You'll have a lot of fabric in that space so I would go neutral. I would choose curtain panels that are close to the wall color and have some structure and texture. You can add color and pattern to the room with art, throw pillows and area rugs.

I'm planning to only use some stationary panels on both sides of the big window and the out sides of the small windows. So actually not much fabric in the spaces. I thought about the color close to the wall, but worried if it will be too much tan color. What about gray/silver color with similar tone of bedding?

The current wall color is not the one in the picture, correct? I agree with d_gw that matching the wall color would be good, particularly with the brown wood trim. You could do a pattern with that neutral background.

In general, it's best to make your curtains look as full as possible but you don't have a lot of return space around your windows so you'll have to work with what you have.

Matching tans and greys can be tough. Tans are warm, greys are cool and they often look "off" together. So, I still think that panels close to the wall color will be best for your windows. Especially if you are planning to use narrow panels. Having the panels contrast with the wall color will emphasize the width issues.

You can tie things together with grey and tan print pillows or a grey and tan print throw on your bed.

I usually pick colors from the bedding...

Drapery colors should cooordinate with bedding so post a pic of the bedding and also the color of the walls. IMO drapery panels shoud still look like they could close if you wanted and when they are just skimpy ones on either side of a window they look cheap

should I add two more panels in the middle of the large window as well? Which one looks better? I think I like the second better, but it blocks some view of the big window.

One thing to consider is that if you put panels on the large window, it will look strange if you don't put panels on the side windows. But then you run into the issue of the drapery rods bumping into one another at the corners. There is specialty hardware for such things, but it's not cheap.

I can't envision a gray/silver bedspread with tan walls.

In one of my old houses I used these Penney's curved curtain rods in a room with no return around the windows. They might work for your space.

You only need two corner connectors for the drapery hardware. I purchased some with my metal curtain hardware and they were inexpensive. Here is higher priced example I found on Houzz.
