Picked Spruce for siding color, need help with trim and door

Background - we are building our house in a wooded lot in Maryland. Attached is a picture of the exterior of our house. We choose Certainteed vinyl siding and we liked the Spruce color the best, it would help the house blend in with the environment very well. We picked out Certainteed Herringbone for the trims, soffit and gutter, for now. Windows will be almond colored to match the Herringbone color. For the roof, we picked Certainteed Landmark Charcoal Black.

I'm starting to question our selection of Herringbone for the trims/soffit/gutter. We're having a hard time trying to pick out a color for the front door with our current color scheme, black?? Red?? Our builder told us we could pick any Sherwin Williams color for the front door. Help? Should we change our trim/window/soffit/gutter color? Thanks!

Also, I told the builder we wanted Spruce colored corner trims, should we stick with that or get Herringbone so it matches the almond colored gutters?

I love log homes! Why aren't you building a log garage? I'm certainly no expert but have you considered painting the garage the same color as the trim on your house? It seems like red siding might look like you were trying to color match the dark red cedar but failed since they're completely different materials. On the other hand, the reds might actually compliment each other. What do I know? You may want to post this on the decorating forum too. It's a very active forum and folks there are very helpful with both interior and exterior design. In fact, if you can post a photo of the garage (or a model) on the decorating forum, someone there will probably Photoshop different colors onto it for you, which is really helpful.

The siding appears to be vinyl. It can be painted with a good 100% acrylic paint, even without a dedicated primer. It is extremely important that the chosen color be no darker than the original plastic. Plastic expands dramatically when heated. Darker colors will raise the temperature when the sun is beating on the siding. It can literally permanently destroy your siding !!!

I see a number of post like this asking paint?trim colors on houses that look to me to be newer construction and therefore a vinyl or aluminum siding rather than wood...Is that the case is this wood? Painters does vinyl siding paint well I always thought it was dificult to maintain it?? Looking for some education! Love celery's last one with a black door- or a navy door.

I like your current colors just the way they are now. The only potential change for me would be the color of the front door...maybe. If it's wood, I would probably leave it and remove the storm door. You have a very nice home!

You asked about the colors, not about the house, but here are 3 visuals.

I'm drawn to the simplicity of the first.

As for your colors, not your exact house, but maybe these will help. Only difference is the corner boards.

Right now I’m second guessing the spruce color for the siding. I’m looking for a traditional-transitional look and spruce/almond/red feels too traditional to me. My DH wants cedar shingles for the top part of the house, or white shingles.. I’m afraid it might look too busy. Any tips?

I'll suggest complementing nature rather than trying to blend in.

Shingles same as the siding -- change in texture, not color.

I don't see traditional-transitional here, rather an attempt to craftsmanize a house that lacks any resemblance to craftsman.

I noticed you have not started an ideabook, so no way of knowing your style.

Is your builder/designer/architect unable to do color renderings like I showed above?
