When Whirlpool acquired Maytag, what it did with the old company's assets can be compared only to the way the Bolsheviks treated the Czarists after the Russian Revolution. We had a Jenn-Air cooktop (Jenn-Air was a division of Maytag), only a very few years old, that needed a specific Jenn-Air-only part. When I contacted Whirlpool to inquire of parts availability, I was told: that Whirlpool had no inventory whatsoever of parts for Jenn-Air; that Whirlpool did not have a list of third party suppliers or warehouses who might stock Jenn-Air parts; that Whirlpool had no library of manuals, schematics, or part numbers for Jenn-Air products; and that Whirlpool did not even have a list of model numbers for Jenn-Air products. Old Maytags and Jenn-Airs were orphaned and, more than orphaned, abandoned, and Whirlpool wanted nothing at all to do with them; and wished that people would stop bothering the company about the former Maytag and Jenn-Air products....See MoreLaundry Room Design/Washer Dryer Buying Tip
Comments (0)Designed new house to have cabinets above the w/d; clothes rod runs between two cabinet sets. Old washer was located under one cabinet on the right and dryer is under the clothes rod area. Folding table is to the left of dryer. Older machines that we moved in worked great. Washer has now died died. Bought a new Whirlpool Cabrio HE top loader washer (with glass top) and new dryer to match. Units were delivered yesterday and the washer lid now hits the bottom of the cabinets. Not only is the washer taller but the lid is wider measured back to front. We had measured the widths to make sure they fit the opening but didn't think about the height. You may also want to consider the new styles of front loaders with pedestals to make sure they fit under cabinets. We may try to switch the locations of the washer and dryer so that washer opens under clothes rod; would solve the lid problem but put the dryer further away from the folding table....See MoreWhen the insert doesn't fit the duvet cover.
Comments (16)I love the poufy feeling sleeping under a duvet. I did sweat but it’s thyroid related. I kind of missed not being cold the first 10 min of being in bed, ha. When I asked what he thought he said it felt like he was sleeping under denim. ....but he slept comfortable. I don’t use fabric softener. Hopefully it softens in time by washing. Bedroom update: pb duvet is white and dark blue (almost black) stripes. I bought a white bedskirt a while back but it’s only 14” drop and I need 17“ so need to get a different one. Going to order pillow fabric. Going to use the Windsor Palm (green/blue) on euros (putting pb ones away for now) and a long blue velvet lumbar with gold Greek key trim. I need to get a few more majolica plates for around my mirror. Have most of the art. Need to buy the art I picked for above bed but that and the bathroom rug I bought from eBay ties it all together. Still waiting for it to ship. Bedroom is painted. Need to paint bathroom (probably bm Hale navy) and vanity (bm cloud white) Found fun green knobs off Etsy. White shower curtain from RH with navy embroi stripe. Need to order curtains and Roman shades for bedroom. Looks all good in my head. I’m excited. :)...See MoreFitting a gas dryer and washer in laundry room
Comments (7)I actually really enjoy having stacked washer and dryer. Much better space utilization. But I realize that this is a charged topic. Lots of people have strong opinions about this. In the end, it probably depends a lot on the specifics of your space. I do agree though, that asking a plumber to relocate the hookups is a great option. It'll admittedly cost you a few hundred dollars up front, and money might be tight with all the other relocation expenses. But in the end, a "proper" solution is always preferable over a band-aid improvised solution. And realistically, it's really not that difficult to move a connection. Get a couple of quotes. There probably are plumbers who want to establish a working relationship with a new home-owner and who are willing to cut you a good deal. While you are at it, consider installing an automatic water shut-off valve that reduces the risk of a surprise water leak....See MoreFutureDriven
