Hello Houzzers,
I live in the bay area and have owned this 50's ranch for 2 years. I am slowly trying to make it a home and trying to figure out my style along the way. Decorating is so fun and something I absolutely love. The house is a work in progress because there is still a lot to be done (bathroom/bedrooms etc.). Today I need help from you guys on paint colors.
I really love clean bright fresh look. One of my fav. house tours is this house here. Absolutely love how fresh and clean this is still being very cozy. So no surprise I am heavily leaning towards painting the walls white. Now because my common areas range from being south facing to north facing to being dim positioned in the middle of the house, I am not sure if one white will work for this entire open space. But then again how will different whites look in an open layout. I absolutely dislike yellow/beige so not doing that. I do love grays though but I am dreaming of white guys so I need your help.
Let me walk you through the house with some details on what I have done.
1. As I open my front door we land in my living area. I recently painted the accent wall BM Hale navy and hung my favorite pictures. It makes me happy to see them every time I enter my home. It is also much brighter normally. Here the curtains were drawn.
2. This is a wider view standing behind the front door. Its a south facing room with a small patio overhang. I keep changing the sofa and the 2 chairs to create different flows. The runner was added because the sofa used to be facing the fireplace making it a little faux entry way/foyer. Right now the two chairs have replaced the sofa as shown below. Not sure about the extra long sconce on the fireplace. Its temporarily standing there so I can make up my mind. What do you guys think?

3. This is the small not too bright dining are right off of living room in the middle of the house. The door leads to our kitchen that has a west window from which the dining area draws some light. I extended my accent wall color to this dining wall and added more casual gallery wall (still building it). I know it made the already dim area a bit moody. I am liking it now but will most likely change it in a year or two with something brighter or even a fun wallpaper. The chandelier is definitely going away. I removed the shade of it because it was blocking the view and trapping light. I have my heart set on this one in the grande size for replacement. https://www.westelm.com/products/mobile-chandelier-extra-large-brushed-nickel-w2195/ What do you think? Also will be updating my dining chairs to something more modern.

4. Off of the dining area is what the previous owners likely added as a sunroom? But now its our family room. We are in this room ALL the time as it is right off the kitchen and dining room. This is also our TV/play room. Its basically the hear of the house. It is also a north facing room but with many windows. As seen above it has the sliding glass door that's north facing. It brings most of the light in the room. Then to its right as seen below is the east facing window. The corner office area does need revamping. Not sure about the multiple rug situation going on in this room but this room is darn long. Any ideas here?

5. To the left of the sliding doors is one more window on the north wall and then a slight bigger window on the west wall. So this room gets light from all direction. Its pretty bright even for a north facing room and we usually keep the windows open. Also I hate those blinds. I am debating replacing them with shutters or roman shades, may be bamboo to add more warmth to this room? I also don't have this orange rug in here anymore as you'll see in another picture below. Its moved under the dining table to hide all the crap that falls off from my 2 year old's plate haha.
6. Now standing in front of the sliding window and looking back into the house, this is my view.
I am playing with the idea of wall papering this wall below with something fun and whimsical. I played around with the idea and came up with this picture below. Thoughts?
7. To give a complete picture of this room here is one last picture. There is a small window opening between the family room and kitchen. This used to be the perimeter wall of the original layout before the owners added this sunroom.
So I did a lot of reading here in houzz and just the interwebs and I keep hearing the BM Simply white works in north facing rooms. And given that mine has a lot of windows and is relatively bright I am hoping it'll work. I am hoping you guys have lots of other suggestions on paint. I'd also love to know what you guys think about the decor so far? You can be honest and brutal its fine :). I still don't know my style is(eclectic?), its still evolving so would love to hear your thoughts.
It is a long post. Thank you for taking the time to read it. I really appreciate you guy's inputs/suggestions/opinions about my home.
