I am getting Mannington Adura in 16" square tile and having it grouted too. (For those of you who aren't familiar with this tile, it is not ceramic, but looks like ceramic and has the feel of vinyl--we didn't want cold floors here in Wisconsin.) Thank you for all your comments; it will be installed tomorrow diagonally. Today they preped the floor and established that I do have enough which is a good thing since this particular color is no longer available. I am excited to have this phase done. Where in this website does it explain how to download photos? My kitchen won't look that great until cabinets and counter are installed, but if you want to see the floor I will be excited to share. Running tile on the diagonal makes a small space look larger. Perhaps that will help you decide...

We have an open layout kitchen with an island and then the dining room with living room. We are in the process of putting tiles 6x24 wood look. Our contractor told us the tiles have To face the window. But then the tiles would not be parallel to the kitchen cabinets. Also, our cabinets have lines as well. Not sure if it matters. Then the tiles will match the layout floor in the dining. But is there a rule of thumb which way to lay tiles vertical or horizontal? Thank you!

Hi Linda, fair enough ripping tile is not as fun. I do think the effect will flow more nicely lengthwise, including matching the orientation of the tiles along the tub and makethe room seem . I did the same thing recently in my old bathroom that was a similar shape and size. I wish I could have had your drop in tub and separate shower - however you do it, it will be lovely!
