I had the very same dilemma, trying to find a small vanity to put in my powder room (the space had a very inadequate, builder-grade (read: cheap) pedestal sink). We ended up going to Expo Design Center, where one of their vendors (Strasser) lets you custom-design your own vanity, with a range of sizes, styles, door types, stain colors, counter materials, sink types, etc. While this wasn't the cheapest option, it allowed us to get exactly what we wanted. Since nothing "standard" fit the space, it was worthwhile. The new vanity was delivered within about 3 weeks after ordering, and my husband was able to install it within a few hours (including brand new faucet, which we'd purchased separately). In the picture, black is the current layout. Green is the change if only shower was made bigger and one door would be eliminated. Red is a complet demo, removing the wall section between two toilets. All the water lines from upstairs are in the section of the wall that is between two toilets so removing this wall would require a major move of water lines to the side and there would have to be a section of wall kept behind new toilet and vanity. The door from master would have to be framed and move to the left as a pocket or barn door. The drowing is disproportionate. It is all very cramped in there Current shower is only 26"x26". But may be replacing vanity for a wall hung vanity in the larger bathroom would change the feel. It will all have to be torn down and replaced including removing subfloors as they are rotten. So either remodel will be a lot of work. What should we do?

I did a little thinking on this. Light socket to left of mirror- it is attached to a stud on the right side of the little electrical box. I am going to replace it with a 3 capacity box, putting the socket in the spot on far left, then patch/cover the other two. This will allow me to move the mirror down a few inches to be centered on vanity. I will still have room between it and framed the mirror. Lights- I will then be able to center the lights on the vanity/mirror, not on the sinks. But the original hollywood light had one wire in middle of fixture. To install two lights I will need to split that and run through the studs to get to new opening for new fixtures. I was not thrilled about patching drywall to do this. But...... if I remove the mirror ( which is not glued as originally thought) I can open up the wall behind the mirror, do the split, bore through studs, run new wires up to the new fixtures holes. Then I patch the wall which will be covered by the mirror so it doesn't have to be perfect!!!! It is a lot of work but will be worth it in the end. Can't wait to finish and post pics.

I remember in my first house, I made a recessed closed niche all along the vanity between the faucet and the mirror. I found it really useful, I just wish I could find a better option than sliding doors to access the inside. I don't know, if 30 years later there would be a better option ... maybe you can make that recessed space higher than the faucet and have a pressure button latch that is hidden at the back of the door (sorry, I am missing some english vocabulary, hopefully you understand what I mean).
