My fireplace mantle needs your help. Picture
Comments (12)I'm loving all your ideas. Keep them coming! Eventually we could add a cap to the fireplace mantle (we have to finish our upstairs bathroom and library first). LOL! My chorus. Yes, it *is*. I hate the fake plants too and I just took them off. Copper trays and pottery. I'll go digging. Les, the sign used to travel back and forth between my BIL and us. Every time he needed money, he'd let us have the sign until he paid us back. Last time (many years ago) he decided he just wanted us to keep it. Well, there are two signs. One is in our bedroom and it's really nice too. The fireplace had a mirror when we moved here but we took it down. It's upstairs in a large closet now. Maybe that was a mistake. LOL! Maybe I should drop the sign down closer to the fireplace? Our ceilings are high, I think 11' but the fireplace is huge. So is the sign. Making the sign a theme for the fireplace? Interesting idea. As far as moving the sign, the problem is there are no other walls big enough and my DH loves it. Maybe when the wallpaper is gone, it may fit better. If I did a box in the center, it would have to be a pretty big box or it will disappear, don't you think? (Think 8' wide. That is what the mantle measures.) I just left my post to fix my mantle and now my entire living room is destroyed. My mantle looks no better yet but the fake plants are gone. LOL! I'm moving around stuff....See More*Updated*Help me choose Picture over Mantle
Comments (35)Updated **We painted the wall with samples of both old navy and hale navy. Now I am leaning toward hale navy. Old navy is just too dark for my little space and looks almost black at night. Hale navy is a little grayer than I thought I would want, but I don't think I will find a better blue. I don't want anything too bright - just a sophisticated rich blue that will be easy to decorate with. What do you think? Old Navy is the darker one....See MoreMantle placement help and paint color for light wood flooring.
Comments (6)Take the molding, the shelf that is trying to be a mantle & paint the wall to match your other walls. Select some linen like drapery panels that extend from the ceiling to the floor and consider mounting art above the fireplace. Typically when there is a fireplace surround like yours, there is no mantle....See MorePicture above fireplace mantle?
Comments (11)@lynartist You are correct about the photo’s shape. Unfortunately, there is no other wall. This is a custom photo/print, which we did not want to crop further, as it woud have eliminated too much scenery. So, we will live with the way it is. @houssaon Thank you, this is an aerial shot taken in Banff National Park....See MoreRelated Professionals
