Renting a Condo-need decorating advice
Comments (21)Will there be a TV in the room? It looks like the room breaks down roughly into three 10-ft by 14-ft sections. The dining table and chairs probably would use one of the end sections. I would place the dining table with the long side parallel to window, to break up the long run of space. This would leave a roughly 20-ft by 14-ft are for living. It would be difficult to center seating on the fireplace, as the fireplace would be at one end of the 20-ft by 14-ft area. One possible furniture plan would be to place sofa facing fireplace, with a sofa table or narrow cabinet behind (possibly your dining server). With a 14-ft room depth, there should still be plenty of room to walk behind the sofa. Chairs could then face sofa, flanking the fireplace. Alternatively, chairs could be placed at right angles to fireplace. Note TV not considered in either of these plans. If dining server is not used behind sofa, it could go at opposite end of room to balance some of the dining table weight. Comments (5)I will send a sofa pic when I get home. You are right about the placement but... the stove is fixed and the TV is in the only place without window glare. I am open to a multicolored rug and prefer nothing traditional or with fringe. We are on a working farm so light colors are out. I would like to tone down the gold sofa and am open to about any other darker color. The front door is the main door and is used for farmers, kids and everything in between. Thanks so much for taking a look! Although we are farmers I am looking for something in terms of style for an updated look that will combine both farmhouse style and a more modern look. I appreciate all your help....See MoreHelp! Need decorating advice
Comments (28)It looks like a naturally dramatic space, and you have all those windows so there's the "outside coming in" feel. With all the visual elements, I feel you need a simpler backdrop, which would be wonderful for some genuine artworks. Remove everything, paint all the walls and ceiling one color of cream/off-white. I like your rugs, you could use some of their color for accents. Any pros correct me, but I think the mantel needs more presence, maybe stone work. Have you thought about new light fixtures or even furniture? How much change are you wanting?...See MoreRelated Professionals
