vanity advice needed--x-post from home decorating
Comments (12)I like option 2 because it makes sense to fill the whole wall because of mirror issues, as you said, and I think a 56" vanity provides a nice amount of counter space. The shallow cabinet in front of the door will help the room feel less cramped, and I agree the wall mount vanity will help too. If she can live without solid surface, there's lots of formica out there that could look really good and modern without breaking the budget. I am in the process of a bathroom remodel, and also have the marble-look floors. I ended up finding a quartz remnant that is almost white, with just slight veining. It looks great with the floors. I had to look pretty hard to find a remnant, but it can be done. I'd say I probably saw an equal number of 2 and 3 cm remnants. But definitely finding granite remnants is easier, and black might be a good option....See MoreDo you read the newspaper and have it delivered to your home?
Comments (39)I read the Bismarck ND tribune on line everyday. I think a subscription for out of state is maybe around 400 dollars already. In state the last I know it was 240 and that was about 15 years ago. I can't afford it. I like to keep up on things there. I just found out that my last great aunt died at the age of 98. Some of the news is online before it is in the daily paper though. I don't understand why they do that. We subscibe to the small town local paper here in our county. It is about 28 dollars a month. I too started getting it so I would get to know about some of the people here and what was going on when I moved here. I also got another small town one the first one or two years but I cancelled that one. I sometimes read the Pierre Capital Journal on line. There is a paper that comes out of Pierre that is free. It is the want ads and flyers from the CPJ so I see what is on sale and the rummage sales if I am going to Pierre....See MoreRevisited a favorite store on visit to hometown
Comments (12)Felt the same way, in the last few years, about the antique and "junk" stores I used to love to frequent. Until...my daughters started furnishing their own homes. Have found some recent bargains for them both. One particular bargain was a nice, big and round, Regency looking coffee table...solid wood...for a mear $45. In near perfect condition and had the original brass wheels. It made DD and SIL's living room! Goes well with their low couch and wide upholstered chair left by the former owner of their new house. :) Such a great bargain that I did not even haggle. That's the name of the shop. Now anytime DD needs something, we look at the "old" before the new. Been there for over 40-50 years. I have several items of furniture and accessories from the store. It's funny, though. I still see some of the same items that I did back when I shopped 25+ years ago....See MoreWill You Help Me Decorate My Home Piece by Piece?
Comments (573)I like the pattern fine, although it is not one I would choose for my home! I am more traditionalist. What I do not like about those two: fringe, especially light fringe, gets noticeably dirty where it is in the walking path. The same goes for the light colored background. This will be in your main space, and in the walk path from front room to kitchen -- I would look for a version that minimizes the light colored areas. Unless, you have no problem with frequently cleaning it - it needs to be colorfast also. I hope you have a couple of days off now to recoup. I used to do eight 12 hour shifts in a row every month (for child care purposes), and often found that I was more prone to coming down with something afterwards. My unit has been converted into the COVID-19 isolation unit for the hospital....See MoreRelated Professionals
