Has anyone used ikea sektion kitchen cabinets in a closet?

I want the higher quality of the sektion instead of the pax, but not sure they can be repurposed into closets. For example the tall pantry cabinets have shelves (which I assume you could choose not to install) Has anyone done this? We just need drawers and hanging space, so pretty much lower with drawers and then tall cabinets. Ceiling is 10ft and we would want them to go all the way to the ceiling. The master closet is 14x11 and we would have cabinets on 3 walls.

The pax doesnt seem to be good enough quality.

I don't why you couldn't use base cabinets in combination with other cabinets/options for the upper section. These are the same cabinets we used in our kitchen that we used for dressers in our bedroom.
You could do the same with IKEA bases in your closet (presuming you can pull out drawers past your closet doors?) and then add upper cabinets or switch to something like Elfa (Container Store) rods and shelves. We've used Elfa in our closet and been very happy. I can see it being used for just the upper half of a closet with cabs underneath.
We kept Christmas decorations and wrapping paper up there on the high shelf.

I can't offer advice on using the sektion in a closet but I have used PAX components in three different houses. Two were open units(with no doors) in walk in closets. The third was a large free standing unit with sliding frosted glass doors. I have no complaints at all at the quality. They are very sturdy. Both the wire and closed drawers stand up to overstuffing. I've also had sektion kitchens. I would say the quality is comparable.

This is very helpful! I am facing the same dilemma. I've chosen the Jutis frosted glass doors and the glossy gray Ringhult panels for the sides. But I could not decide on the white vs. the brown cabinet boxes. I was considering the brown boxes, but I was concerned about it being too dark on the insides. After reading this, I'm now leaning toward the white boxes, and possibly using the edge band around the fronts -- perhaps in a metalic/gray color to match the aluminum doors. I'll be happy to share photos once it's complete. Thanks to all for your input!

The answer, is "it depends". You may need them for clearances. The Electrolux ranges for instance need a bit of a filler and a cover panel. This is where you have to read the appliance specifications. You do not need them for counter support though, if the rest of the design properly provides for that. Any exposed cabinet side needs to be finished with cover panels, and that thickness needs to be accounted for in the design. Any uppers adjacent to a hood will have exposed sides. If exhausting is not possible, and you are left doing a recirculating vent, I'd urge you to choose a hood both wider and deeper than the cooking zone below. You want the best capture area possible since you will not be able to exhaust the effluent.

In most cabinet lines, you would just use a 33” cabinet. In stock cabinets, you just have to hack at them.

So a fellow Houzz'er posted their new kitchen and I really like their microwave "garage" and how the door pulled out and up! We planned to do a Sektion hi-cab for a built in oven and microwave. I would like to still go with the same hi-cab, but i want to put a drawer front over a standard countertop microwave. I'm sure i can figure out the hardware and modify the drawer front and cabinet to work, but i'd thought i'd ask to see if someone has already done it.

I am wondering the exact same thing. Our inherited Cal Closets got damaged by water in Hurricane Irma & I just installed Sektion cabinets in our laundry and love them. Now I want to use Sektion in our closet with the Cal Closet hardware (if I can). I'm sure Pax would hold up, but it doesn't look like a built-in closet.
