Comments (16)Wow! Didn't think this post was anywhere around anymore! Sorry mandav, I reorganized my online photo albums quite some time ago, so that is why the pictures are not showing up. To update everyone, we did build a picket fence in spring of '05 and did create a garden along the side walk. We only went part way with the fence, but are hoping to finish it to the corner and then built a low stone wall around the corner next spring. I already started the flower bed to the corner last spring. Within the corner (behind the stone wall) we will build some type of arch and mount an 1859 bronze school bell that we purchased last year. This picture was taken in 2005. The fence is built out of cedar and we have left it to weather without painting or staining it. I will link to my web page below if you would like to see more pictures. The pages for 2005, 2006 and 2007 should have some pictures where you can see the fence as it ages and the flower bed as it fills in. Comments (22)Where are you located? Yours home appears to be lacking some of the trim boards cornices, etc. that are typically found in the architecture of the Greek Revival period. Are there small windows above the ones we see that have been removed or sided over? Does your historical society have drawings (found on maps or early town renderings) or even nineteenth century photos of your home before it was altered? Do some research on its history. You might be amazed at what you discover! Any shutters that you acquire should be operable ones, with hinges, in the correct scale and style for your home. Some homes like yours never had shutters. And, as you say about your new home, these houses were always painted white. Often with dark windows and sashes. But the choice is yours.... Good luck with your lovely new/old home!...See MoreHelp choosing interior paint colors
Comments (5)We currently have Accessible Beige on our walls and we ordered After Party flooring! The flooring sample looked great next to our wall color. Do you have any pictures of after party installed? We're so excited for our flooring to arrive and I've been dying to see it installed in a house while we wait!...See MoreBeach House - Interior Paint HELP!!!
Comments (2)IMO 10’ is the max ceiling height I would ever do so if you want to look higher I find taking the wall color for the ceiling too gives that illusion often. As for which white I have no cluse and even if you posted pics of your space there is no way to know what works. The best is to choose 3 whites yout think will work, get 3 large poster boards paint each one with 2 coats and then move them around to see which one you like better. Before choosing wall color make sure all the lighting is LED in 4000k that mimics daylight and makes the colors stay true. I like a bit more contrast between white trim and walls so maybe consider a pale gray/ green to work as a neutral Rain washed is a nice neutral...See Morehollybar
