sinus headaches caused by weather changes
Comments (48)Hi @lazy_gardens...I have attempted to collect actual proof in the form of photos; but as involving someone else isn't really practical I've relied on selfies, which themselves can vary in lighting, the angle of my head and the distance of the camera. And I'm not tech-savvy enough to be able to do the overlays you describe on a computer screen. But I agree that this would be a way to tell for sure if there's an actual difference. More recently I've been taking measurements with digital calipers along with recording atmospheric data, but either there's too much user error (i.e., inconsistency in measuring) or the weather has not yet changed significantly enough to collect any real "evidence." My mention of sinus contraction and expansion comes from a recent paper I came across, which describes differences in the size and shape of the maxillofacial sinuses and the corresponding nasal cavities in response to atmospheric conditions (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ar.22655/full). However I wasn't sure if this was describing real-time changes taking place in a person's face or simply adaptive traits evolved in hot and humid vs. cold and dry environments. I have written the author for clarification but haven't yet heard back. Your point on bone movement being painful is well-taken, though; but I still wonder if the issue isn't related to the changing air pressure in the sinuses with changing humidity (humid air being less dense than dry air). I've also learned that blood pressure is lower in low-pressure atmospheric conditions, due to the relaxation of blood vessels, and wonder if this might also (or alternately) be a factor. I've started using a neti pot experimentally to see if different salt concentrations have any effect and may also try other recipes as well....See MoreLow-cal diet is causing personality changes
Comments (72)Well, I'm offended for her. I wish her vet would have diagnosed the thyroid before she was put through a diet when it was no fault of her own or her own lack of portion control ;0) Are there doggie endos? Poor girl. Bet she feels much better with the meds soon and will drop those pounds by beach weather. (not to mention her knees and hips are probably calling out 'thank you' already)...See MoreHELP! GC changed roof pitch and now causing problems during build
Comments (11)I am so sorry. We had something similar happen with our framing, except there was no discussion about it beforehand - they just made a mistake. When the mistake was realized (shamefully for them, I was the one that noticed it - not the framers or GC!) we first consulted with the architect to determine what exactly was going to change internally as a result of the roof changes they made, then went back to the framers and negotiated a discount to keep it mostly the way they built it (they had to change a few things to be per-plan but not everything). I would follow a similar path if I were in your shoes. Get a FULL list of outcomes from this roof change. If you (and the code officer) can accept them, negotiate a discount on your framing cost. I don't think it even matters that you verbally approved the change. He also verbally told you that it would not cause internal changes and he was dead wrong, so you only agreed to that kind of change, not the change you got. And try to look at it this way. Your house isn't wrong just because they didn't follow the plans perfectly - it's unique!...See MoreLarge window in kitchen causing outlet placement issues. Need help pls
Comments (64)Liane there’s brands like mocket that make counter outlets and some make gfic counter outlets too. I just thought you were against the idea is why I didn’t mention it. Anyways, they pop up out of the counter so they aren’t just exposed sitting upwards. On another note, I assumed if you put the outlet on the wall you’d be doing them sideways...I should’ve been more specific and clarified that I think sideways would be best. It just doesn’t look like they will totally fit even sideways, correct?...See MoreMs G Smith
