New Fri. PM---Heat Advisory Extended, Split
Comments (4)Susan, I have no idea what it means. I know we were expecting the cooldown to begin here on Friday night and now it has slipped out to Monday. It makes me wonder if the cold front will ever get here! Everything is hot here too....the trees were so wilty looking this afternoon and it is more of a heat stress than a drought stress because we had 5" of rain in July. (However, we're just barely at or right below average rainfall so we aren't wet or anything.) At the rate things are going, I won't have to put cherry tomatoes and peppers in the dehydrator to dehydrate. I'll just leave them on the plants and let them dry there. The good news is that the bermuda grass is turning brown. The bad news is that it is only dormant and not dead. In some parts of the Texoma region, which is essentially the counties that run two deep along both sides of the Red River, highs may reach 108 with heat indices of up to 115 this weekend (NOT in my county 'cause we're too dry, but in counties that have had rain lately). Those are ridiculous numbers. Before long, we'll be talking about the Keetch Byran Drought Index and fire danger if some rain doesn't fall. The Hugo area and a couple of others are already dangerously dry. Dawn...See MoreExtended Front Porch...Help please
Comments (1)One idea to look into is, Aeratis porch flooring. Its a pvc tongue and groove porch flooring so it never rots, but it looks like wood. It can go right over your concrete. You can build up a wooden frame around the perimeter of your existing concrete floor (only if you want to extend it. Next install the Aeratis directly over the concrete using a glue called PL premium (urethane based glue). On the wooden structure, if you decided to extended it beyond your current concrete pad, install Aeratis just as you would normal T&G material. Here is the best part of choosing Aeratis, it is the only product that will warranty the direct application to concrete. Also, Aeratis is ADA slip compliant both wet and dry, this could come in real hand if you are struggling with mobility (noticed you mentioned a power chair). Good luck!...See Moresplitting porch columns
Comments (3)Millwork post wraps over steel or other structural column would have been the better choice for a fine finish, as any massive solid timber undergoes significant seasonal shrinkage, which manifests as unsightly checking at the surface. IMO the best filler to use would be Flextech by ART. It's a flexible gel epoxy that moves with the wood but can be sanded pretty smooth. Casey...See MoreExtend porch with roof
Comments (10)if its water issues you can change gutter system so the water comes off the roof maybe at front of garage or some type of landscape/backfill to slop the ground away from foundation Maybe change post title to foundation water issues and see if you can get advise. I know on one of my homes we added dirt at a slop and it stop water that was leaking into basement along with adding underground drain system so gutter water slopped way from home....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
