Need Help Selecting Tile for Powder Room Remodel
Comments (4)Thanks for the replies. I finally found a real solid black but in a odd size -- Daltile has an unpolished (not shiny) jet black tile in 24"x12" size. I was so happy, but then I see you replies about how the charcoal looks good. Now I'm doubting myself. :( The vanity top will be black galaxy polished, and the wall color I'm aiming for a warm gold. Here is a pic of the design that inspired this remodel: http://www.hgtvpro.com/hpro/photo_template/article/0,3140,HPRO_28216_6027344_10,00.html. I'm going for that similar wall color. This pic has charcoal floor tiles, but then it has a black cabinet. By the way, how do I get email alerts when I receive follow up posts? I didn't even realize I had replies on this post!...See MoreHelp Please! Mid-Master Bath Remodel Dilemmas!
Comments (5)Thanks everyone for your comments so far. Running it vertically is definitely an option and something I hadn't thought of so thank you! My only worry about running everything up the posts all the way now is that it will add significantly to my costs which have already grown bigger than I was planning so I was kind of hoping that I could find a way to make it look ok without having to go all out which is why I was considering all the options. Jerzee girl, were you talking about the white trim in that link or the stone on the underside? Snookums, yes, I believe they did everything correctly and I've been here throughout the whole process and watched each step -- from cement board and mud pan and building the curb all the way to the entire shower coated in redguard... They are very careful and have a good reputation in the area. Anyway, thanks all and I hope more people will chime in....See MoreThree bathrooms to be remodeled - seeking help on tile selection
Comments (5)I would do a search here for the following terms: "marble on shower floors" "marble stains" "iron stains in marble" "marble not drying" If you do a bit of reading, the common result you will see, is that marble is not the best product to use for shower floors or walls. My master bath was all done with tile from Walker Zanger, but I used their porcelain and glass tiles for products that are durable and easy to clean. I am willing to squeegee the whole shower after I use it, but not something that my husband or kids would do, so products have to be chosen with all family members in mind. I am now doing 3 more bathrooms, but went with a competitor of WZ in my area, as they have many of the same product lines, but had better pricing....See MorePlease help with tub/shower combo tile selection/suggestions - THANKS!
Comments (10)Yes, sorry, I meant to put into the post that the contractors we're using have already remodeled our basement bathroom, and passed code inspection with flying colors. They have also contributed substantially to design decisions on that project which was fitting a 3 piece bath into a 2-piece space. And it works marvelously. I was home during that entire process, my husband and I inspecting every step. Our new tub is on order. We're gutting this thing, but maintaining the same footprint. I currently don't have a photo of the granite slab, but will try to obtain one. I was so excited by it's beauty, I actually forgot to take the photo! The countertop, vanity, and recessed medicine cabinets will be the focal point, if a bathroom this size can have one. But, as Christina says on "Flip or Flop", when you only have one bathroom in a house, it has to be spectacular (max function/max AHHHH factor). Thanks all!!...See MoreSima Hasher
