New Home - Kitchen Appliance Brands Help
Comments (2)I was recently looking at all those brands for my new home. I ended up going with a Viking D3 range, fridge and dishwasher. Partially for the rebates, partially for the matching and most of all because I loved the range. Great features and it is gorgeous. Beyond that the Viking D3 has a better warranty than the rest and I negotiated an extension to 5 years from the dealer for $175 for all 3 appliances. Also free delivery and install. The fridge is the same same as the jenn air and kitchenaid. Just different handles. The only iffy thing is the dishwasher. I am sure I could do better by buying a Bosch or Miele but with the 5 year warranty I think I am taking a safe risk on the Viking. Still need a range hood but I dont think I will go with Viking on that....See MoreDesign wise - does it bother you to mismatched appliance brands
Comments (40)On the Jenn Air fridge someone asked about...I don't think it cools as evenly as my old Kitchen-Aid did. We bought a counter-depth french-door/bottom freezer as it's just the 2 of us and we have another 'beer/overflow' fridge in another room. I also don't think the icemaker is very big for the amount of room it occupies. Other than those 2 things, it is ok. A must-have for me is ice/water in the door. I also miss the crushed ice dispenser the KA had. I just get ice cubes with this one. More mfg are offering the ice/water dispensers now in counter-depth so maybe it's not such a problem these days but even just 2 years ago the options were limited....See MoreMismatched bisque appliances
Comments (10)I recently acquired my first ss appliances and I will never do it again. I love the go-with-everything feel of them, but they look dirty alll the time, especially the fridge. I want to be able to swipe a sponge over the fingerpints and ketchup splatters and not think twice or clean twice or purchase special cleaners or live with the streaks and marks. If you like the bisque (I actually love it, think it is very neutral in most applications) keep it. If you can't, opt for white. Just my humble opinion. Frankly, I do not see an elephant in your room, I think your kitchen is warm and pretty. I never would even have noticed your appliances do not match, and even looking hard I can barely tell. Maybe it is is different IRL. So, that is my two cents, and probably about all it is worth, too. I will never do SS again (DH's insistence) and my black smooth-top electric stove shows every single grain of salt, water spot and sponge streak....See MoreNeep Help ... Comments (9)A bit of Tenax Agar on the lighter spot might help to blend it better. But, you have an exceedingly complex installation that will be 100% guaranteed to have a mismatch for something somwhere. You simply cannot do a stacked edge with a curve in a busy stone and not have something not line up. It's physically impossible. Overall, it looks great, and I really had to hunt for that spot. Try a bit of the Agar and see what it does. And celebrate the fact that they did such an outstanding job in that there are not more areas that aren't quite matches. It could have been truly awful. Instead, it's pretty spectacular....See More- 6 years ago
