Any recs for inexpensive polished chrome/nickel hardware?
Comments (7)Home Depot's line of Martha Stuart hardware. Most of them are a special order, but they arrived at my doorstep in about 4 days. Weight is nice and sturdy, finished to a beautiful shine and most are a the commmon 3" center to center screw installation, which means that swapping them out in 5 years for a different finish means no new holes spackle or drilling that ruin a nice cabinet. My contractor even asked where I got them because he said most cheap out with the screws but these came with top quality installation hardware. He was shocked when I told him HD. I did these on my drawers: http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/202241366?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=martha+stuart+polished+nickel+bedford&storeId=10051&superSkuId=202784242&N=5yc1v&R=202241366#csku=202241364 These on my cabinets: http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/202241337?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=martha+stuart+polished+nickel&storeId=10051&superSkuId=203314045&N=5yc1v&R=202241337 And these on just my pantry for a little added style - and because I loved them so wanted to find a spot for them: http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/202241370?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=martha+stuart+polished+nickel&storeId=10051&N=5yc1v&R=202241370...See Moresource for polished nickel hardware
Comments (5)We have polished nickel bin pulls and knobs, both from Restoration Hardware. As piegirltoo wrote, they have lots of styles which come in a PN finish. Where I had a really hard time was finding PN appliance pulls. I finally found these from Belwith Keeler (now known as Hickory Hardware) and think they are terrific. We have them on our fridge, freezer and broom pull-out. Polished nickel hardware is gorgeous. I knew all along that's what I wanted and am so glad I never waivered. (Many have written here about fingerprints and advising against it -- I have two sticky-fingered toddlers and so far, nary a problem.) Enjoy, Kate! Comments (4)bumping this up. Anyone out there who's actually done what I'm proposing? My California migrated lighting designer-who's helped me immensely on many kitchen design issues, is a bit more of a purist on finishes. My notes of our early discussion show he suggested hardware in satin or stainless steel for their sheen but not brushed nickel which is more matte. Antique nickel, brass, antique (aged) bronze etc was also high, polished nickel not so much. Also, I recently saw a "what's new in 2013 kitchens" and it said popular hardware are satin, orb, some brass, but not seeing as much polished. If you know of a "bright" satin cabinet hardware maker, please do share. A lot might depend on the base metal in the collection. :/ Thanks again....See MoreOn the Polishing of Nickel Hardware
