Why not consider a pair of shutter doors with new hardware? You could have them made at your local big box home improvement store and paint or stain in your choice or you could look for a vintage pair that have some age to the paint already.

It doesn't appear that there is enough room for a barn door to slide back. Vintage shutter doors sound great.

It would look nice to have a longer door - Do you have enough space on the bottom to bring the pantry down to the molding? Mainly you'd need the depth.

Do you want to make it a feature by highlighting it? Because of it not going to the floor it looks a bit odd from your photo and feels like you should hire some one to paint a picture on it to make it look like a painting or paint it the same color as the wall to make it disappear. It's always hard to give advise when we can't see how it relates to the rest of the room.....

Are you able to post a picture with the kitchen and pantry showing together? Or is the pantry kind of off by its own?

I think you should further explore your idea of the mercury glass as you've got that glam going with your chandelier so why not. Plus, if you go that route maybe think about adding it to each upper cabinet on each side of sink.

Or chalkboard painted panels maybe? That is, if you need a place for lists, notes, etc.

If you have plans to keep the beige hood over your range, you might want to look into high heat spray paint in white. You could take off the hood and spray paint it to match your kitchen better.
