Help me pick a grout color for my backsplash?
Comments (21)While every monitor renders differently (than each other or reality), I think I like the far right one the best. It seems close to the overall shade of the tile (mostly picking up on the lighter tone from the transparency) and seems to have the right balance of coolness/warmth to go with the tile. I like the second from the left a close second best. It seems a little darker and seems to blend well with the tile. I wonder if it has a little bit of an green hue? If not, then I think this one would work really well too. The far left seems too cool/blue for your tile. The middle one seems too dark. And the second from the right seems too light. I think you're automatically going to get some contrast because the tile seems to look a little lighter in the center (presumably from the transparency of the glass) and will already help highlight the beautiful herringbone pattern....See MoreHelp me pick my backsplash, please! - pic heavy
Comments (27)I like the one on the right. but I sort of like the one on the left too. sorry. It's just 2 different looks. That being said, you need to do the "squint" test. I think the lighter tile on the left will appear to give you a white-ish color--so stand back, squint your eyes at the painted backsplash area now--do you like what you see or would you want it darker? Maybe do the test again with the tile on the counter--where you have counters so as to get the full effect. If you want it to look really rich, then darker. If you want to keep it light, then the lighter one. I think both will look nice, seriously. I say pour yourself a cup of tea, and sit down and just stare at it. It will come to you. It is sort of like a meditation type of thing. If anybody is home, they will wonder if you are "ok"....See MoreBacksplash Round 1 TKO - Round 2!
Comments (40)You may have already made your decision but I just found this thread. I feel like you are doing my homework for me! My cabinets and granite countertops are so similar and I've been searching for seven months for the right tile/stone. I love your choices and just have to say that when I saw the French Crema my first reaction was Wow! Second to that the Heartland. I am going out tile shopping again today and will look for some of the choices you've shown here. This is the most difficult project I've ever undertaken!...See MoreHelp me pick a backsplash
Comments (27)Your kitchen is shaping up to be gorgeous. You're in the stage of your project that I was in mine a few weeks ago. I was going crazy trying to get a jump on backsplash choices. I finally realized I had to stop. I wasn't getting anywhere and was in danger of spending a ton of time only to make the wrong decision, because it was just too soon. Advice from someone a few weeks ahead of you in this process? You will only spin your wheels trying to work on backsplash now. It's hard, but just wait. Wait until every other possible finish is in. Your island top, sink, cabinet doors, paint, even your hardware. By then you will be able to instantly eliminate 75% or more of what seems like a possible choice now. I can't tell you the HOURS upon HOURS I spent in tile stores only to realize now that most of that time was wasted because I dragged home samples I never would have even picked up if I had waited until I had a stronger sense of how everything else was going to come together. So take a deep breath, maybe have a glass of wine lol, and come back with pics when things are more done. People will be able to help more then....See MoreUser
