There is a One hour+ wash cycle on Electrolux Wave Touch
Comments (22)rpsinfoman, thanks for resurrecting this 5 1/2 year old thread. Seems like it was yesterday, with some of the same people. Though I would want to revisit the list of Electrolux temperatures, as they may be lower in current production. Re water heating time, are you taking into account that hot water input on American machines is supposed to be at least 120F? The manuals usually say that. Some of us don't get immediate hot water from our plumbing, of course. practigal, I'm following the Miele instruction manual which says Extended is for "laundry with normal to heavy soiling or stains." I have a strong sense of smell, and can definitely tell the difference between stuff washed without Extended (approx. 30 minute wash on Custom cycle) and with Extended (approx. one hour wash). We use only free-and-clear detergents, which means two things: 1) There's no masking scent; 2) Our choices don't include the latest and most effective detergents. I haven't noticed wear and tear from extended washing. The load is lubricated by a water-and-detergent mix, more slippery than plain water, and I don't think it's rubbing all that hard. Certainly not compared to the wear involved in actual use of the textiles, where one's butt is pressing the seat of the pants against a car seat, or where one is lying on a bed sheet all night and moving around, or the back of a shirt is rubbing against a seat back. larsi, you were and continue to be a persuasive advocate for Electrolux. But I'm still scheduled to have a 240V 20 amp outlet for Asko installed this Wednesday (among other jobs the electrician will do during the visit). The Asko has a Time Choice cycle that lets you pick the temperature up to 140F, and a total cycle time between 30 minutes and 3 hours. So you can get a long but not-so-hot wash if you want....See MoreWhirlpool - No Spin Only Cycle ??
Comments (27)I've have a front load Samsung (I hate it, can't express this strongly enough) since 2010. I too only have a Rinse + Spin option. I will try some of this tricks, but why isn't any of this in the manual. Samsung support can't even tell me what to do and surely all washers have a spin only cycle, why wouldn't they??? I have recently spoke with a parts supplier (dryer needs another new part...ARGH!!! 3rd one in 5 months, timer keeps jacking up)... anyhow, he told me to never buy Samsung or LG for appliances mainly washer/dryers, they have the worst ratings and require a lot of repairs (they should stick to phones...maybe?). He recommended Speed Queen, basic units that are very dependable. For next time I will be looking into those. Never again will I buy front load. He also said to stay away from the top loads that do not have a center agitator, also bad on repairs and both front loads and agitator free washers do not wash well. Just for fun, put in an old set of sheets that are colored and add in the bleach, you will get a spotted mess, nothing gets evenly distributed on front loads. I have detergent and fabric softener on my wash all the time after a complete cycle. I've have to do an extra rinse for everything which costs more money and wastes a lot of water and time. Don't get caught up in how pretty front loads look, they are all horrible. I have yet to meet someone who likes there front load washer....See MoreWhilpool Cabrio Spin cycle problems
Comments (1)Perhaps a bad interlock switch on the lid? I'm just throwing that out there since nobody else has replied might also be a loose connection for the same switch....See MoreDuet 9400 - Question about a spin cycle.
Comments (1)Not clear how heavy, thick, and absorbent is your sweater ... but a single item like that is very difficult to impossible for a frontloader to balance for spinning. Frontloaders balance for spin by running at normal tumble speed to keep the items moving and mixed-up, then ramping up the speed slowly so centrifugal force evenly distributes the items and holds them against the drum. If it doesn't balance well on the first attempt and results in too much vibration, the load sensors trigger it to slow down tumbling and try again. And again and again and again if necessary. If the machine can't balance within the number of attempts allowed by the programming, it gives up trying and simply doesn't spin at all. You need to toss in a few bath towels (one or two should suffice) for the machine to distribute/balance as counterweight against the sweater (or pillow or pair of jeans, or whatever may be the single item involved)....See MoreEvaElizabeth
