Comments (64)I changed the entrance of my shower tub. The panel board was moldy; water was getting in between the top tiles and the panel board. the joint was not well sealed. I put new everything for the entrance, even a membrane between the plywood and the tiles. However, it seems to leak from the wall now. Water is coming out of the wall outside the shower tub. Would it be the grout, tiles...? Tiles and grout are probably 20+ yrs old ( turquoise tiles). I tried to put some ready grout ( in a tube), but it still leaks! Calking is well done. Should I remove the old grout and put new one everywhere? Thanks for your help!...See Moreshower outcorner without bullnose
Comments (18)Eric, that's great that your tiler was willing to take the time and care to rearrange tiles when necessary. I think my tiler did a great job of putting together the jigsaw puzzle that was my bathroom (a couple of outside corners, transitions from half-height to full-height, etc.), but he definitely didn't have the patience to pop off and replace individual tiles. As a result, I have a few places where the border isn't as "mixed" as I would like. I agree with you about porcelain vs. travertine. My field tile is porcelain, and I love not having to worry about it. I liked this travertine random brick though, and I decided I wasn't going to fret about care of a small amount of border tile. I like the way it feels when I run my fingers across it, too - very silky. ;-) If I had seen yours, though, I probably would have gone for it. Comments (71)Thought I'd wrap up the month by posting the floors which went in this past week. First event of sand-stain-urethane is done, and after they finish the wood-burning fireplace, they should finish the second round of floor finishing. (those funny looking bags hanging from the ceiling was our wrapping around the lights & fan motors trying to keep dust & debris out of the new units.... ) Flooring is site finished, 4" wide boards #1 common White Oak. Finish is Minwax's English Chestnut, with Waterlox satin urethane. This the view coming in the front door: But this is probably the best example what the color looks like: I think it will look gorgeous next to the wood-burning fireplace! Stone is split Weatherface done in drystack: View in kitchen area next to the back door: They say we're closing August 18th... we'll see!!!! This weeks' gonna be crazy - final lighting, Phase 2 granite, finishing the fireplace, installing the gas fireplace..... all this while I am supposed to be working and packing! I am holding on to my hat - WHEEEeeeeeee!!!...See MoreFinally: Before & After; "Small" Budget c. 1826 City Row Home
Comments (54)Wow, Kevin, your home is beautiful!!! Wondering if your house Is a trinity? Whatever, it's gorgeous. I met you in the bathroom forum. BTW, I live in central Jersey. I've called around to lots of stores and no one seems to have the.models of tubs I'm interested in. I did see the Edenton today however, so no need to post a close-up. But thank you anyone for the thought.. It is a nice tub. I was surprised how slippery the Edenton bottom is even with the texture (and I was looking for no texture at all!). I'm concerned since I need a tub/shower combo - but I really want a comfortable tub as part of that combo. Now I'm wondering if a bath mat will stick to the textured surface of the Edenton when I shower or will the texture prevent it from adhering to the bottom of the tub? Any insights, anyone?. You mentioned somewhere that if you had to do over, you'd choose the Hydrosystems Lacey. Can't seem to find one of those on display. Is the bottom of the Lacey textured like the Edenton or is it a smooth bottom? Where in Philly did you see the Lacey and other tubs you were considering? Thanks so much! Guess I should post 2nd part of this in Bathroom forum- maybe tomorrow....See Moreekscrunchy
