Paint Color with Wallpaper for Nursery

I’m adopting infant twin girls (gulp) and I could really use some advice on paint color for their nursery. I‘ll be using Babyletto Hudson white cribs. I haven't purchased anything yet for the room. I’d like to put Project Nursery Jolie floral wallpaper (here) on an accent wall but I don’t know if I should select a really light pink (Sherwin Williams Intimate White) or a really light gray (any paint suggestions?). I haven’t selected nursery bedding or a rug so I’m flexible there. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Congratulations! I agree, either color would look nice. The wallpaper is beautiful! In your link, there was a room with gray walls and the wallpaper, attached below. While gray looks good with the wallpaper, I think the tan carpeting clashes and ruins the look. So consider your flooring to help you choose.

Either color would look amazing, each color would give the room a different "feel". Pink - whimsical / gray - sophisticated.

Mix vinegar into water at a ratio of 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water. I am in the process of removing the backing now from our 20 year old wallpaper. First time I have ever done it. The wallpaper came off easily with this solution, in some spots the backing came with it, in other areas it didn't. I am using a plastic spatula to gently scrape the backing paper off the drywall. We were told by a lady at Lowes who had hung wallpaper as a job for years that you can put new border over old (and I am assuming just over the paper backing if you get one that is thick and textured that it won't show through. We will be trying that in our breakfast area where we just had border. Again the paper came off easily but the backing won't budge. My new border is wider and thicker so we think we will be okay. Hope yours turns out okay.

I love wallpaper, and use it often. But I do agree about people who apply multiple layers or paint over it. Doesn't sound like any of you have ever had the challenge we had in this house. I kid you not--I counted carefully--our living room had TWELVE layers of wallpaper, several with pain on them. And we stripped every scrap of it off before doing anything further. One interesting thing I've noticed lately--the houses for sale in the neighboring town (one of the priciest, most 'desireable', most trendy in the country) are mostly showing very, very busy wallpapers lately. Guess it's coming back.

I’m thinking three dark walls. This is B.M. Nocturnal Gray, but just a guess to colors in the paper. You do need some blue undertone to work with what I call the “mean” west light. My go to for west light is Patriotic White, so I moved down the strip to find something darker. This color would show great with the white crib, and you could add a white rug on the floor, and a white lamp on the dresser.

Are you doing all the walls in the paper in the DR? IMO thye are very busy and really not very interesting so please post pics of both spaces and show us the furniture in the DR please .

Beautiful pattern! Go with a white that matches the background of the wallpaper. If you have a sample of the wallpaper, take it with you to the paint store to find the correct white. If not, wait until the wallpaper arrives to match it. As for the bedding, the simpler, the better. The wall will be your focal point, so no bold patterns.

I like the idea of white walls with the wallpaper, too. Add the gray and pink in minimal accents. Your nursery will be gorgeous!!

Thanks for your comments! We have BM White Dove on baseboards and crown molding...would that need to match the white walls? I love the look of the wallpaper with white wainscoting but not sure about plain white painted walls. I’m afraid it will feel too sterile.

I’m afraid that will be overpowering. It is a small room. I also want to hang a few things on the wall and not sure how that will look on top of wallpaper.

First of all, Congratulations--what wonderful news!! I'd go with a pale toned pink--try Marry Me (1289), Yours Truly (1317) or Ballet Slippers (1331) from Ben Moore.

I think maybe you are approaching it the wrong way...a small room will look more cut up with different treatments on different walls than it will with a consistent treatment everywhere.
