Roses "F" 2017
Comments (31)Rosecanadian, thank you. Fran's Pirouette is approximately four years old. I can look it up, but that's about it, roughly. Mine is a shrubby plant about 3.5 to 4' tall, not a climber. It reblooms well and has a nice but not powerful fragrance. The blooms usually look similar to what's in the picture but I've seen some that are high centered. Fido has little fragrance but will see what it does this year. Fido is consistently pink, but I do see some purplish tones in the petals in the picture. I have some other seedlings I like but they don't start with "F". I just planted a couple of flats of seeds ...I harvested a lot of hips last fall. So far I have not done any crosses...these are open pollinated, but lots of fun, and some of them are worthwhile I think....See MoreHosta H 2017
Comments (41)So glad to hear you are progressing well Paula! My son is not keen to help me in the garden either unfortunately. My Hanky Panky (purchased in 2016) showed strong signs of virus in 2017. Because of the color changes this hosta goes through, the virus can be difficult to identify. But it so clearly looked infected, out to the garbage it went! Peren.all your Hanky Panky's are stunning. They couldn't be prettier! Thanks for the seasonal change photos. I love seeing all of them. Happy Dayz looks like a lovely hosta. I have discovered from my hosta list that I actually have one! No picture unfortunately. I also thought Forbidden Fruit looked wonderful in the Hosta F thread, and then I discovered I actually have a young one! I think "no more hosta shopping this year" until I get to grips with what I actually have. Yeah, right---like that's going to happen! LOL Only a couple of young H hosta photos for me: Halycon Hans (quite a small one) Thanks for all those wonderful photos everyone! It's so lovely to see them!...See MoreHosta Mini 2017
Comments (38)I love the minis. I owe my entire obsession to dhaven. And now it's on! I have a few and am trying to mix them in with larger hostas as well. Last year, I wanted soe of my minis to stand out from their friends, so I created a raised area for them. I'm looking forward to them filling in this season. Two of my favorites are Baby Bunting and Cherish. But I love them all and have quite a few still on my wish list. I got this BME and friend in one pot at a garden center last Summer. I divided the blue from the other one and planted them separately. I have the Little Hosta Book. It's really wonderful. So is Carolyn's Shade Garden website....See MoreHosta Medium 2017
Comments (43)Sunnywood- I know you’re enjoying Hawaii... how can you not?! We were there a couple of years ago and I was absolutely entranced by the plant life. I took so many pictures... and thankfully my DH didn’t mind going to botanical gardens with me - fascinating! I doubt you’ll see any hostas there, but you have beautiful hostas to come home to. Well, the alphabet in general, and this thread in particular, is making me realize that I need to get better about taking pictures. I have a bunch that are technically mediums, but no photos (or none worth sharing)....See MoreStevePA6a
