Living room re-decorate--Plan B.... Still need advice!
Comments (22)For now, here's where I am: I've moved the sofa to the big wall, and the chair/round table grouping in front of the bay windows. I like it! I've also decided to return the floor lamp, it's just not working anyplace I put it. I really like Beverly's idea (photo) with the grouping of several framed prints above the sofa. I have 10 vintage (late 1800's) fern prints that I could use. They aren't framed, but are matted and have non glare glass held in place with clear gallery clips. However, I'm not sure they are any better "fit" than the bird poster……. I need to find three table lamps--two for each end of the sofa, and another for the round metal table between the two chairs. Here are my three finalists for the sofa end tables: I'd change the shade on this one--I don't like the pleats: All of these are about 27"-29" tall, so I'm thinking the scale would work. As far as the lamp between the chairs in the bay window--I definitely want something different, I've reached maximum matchy-matchy status with the end tables and lamps! Feedback? Thanks again! Comments (5)Your blue TV wall is the only accent wall you should have. As sue j says, consistent paint color in open spaces is the way to go. Instead, use art work, pillows, and rugs to bring color to your space. The walls should be background, not foreground. Some suggestions to bring more texture and pattern into the space: --living room rug --blue/tan/dark red Consider looking for a midcentury style Craigslist search for a long, low credenza to fill three fourths of the TV wall. Your media console disappears into the wall--maybe a good thing. But if you see an affordable beautiful long wood piece for that wall, it would really add warmth to the room. Dining area: add a large art work to the wall in blues/tans/reds instead of thinking about an accent wall....See MoreRanting to the choir
Comments (96)What has always perplexed me about using an apostrophe with plurals is that "the offender" will use it inconsistently. Nouns ending in a vowel are usually the ones they add the apostrophe to, but they also add it to nouns ending in a consonant, but not all of them. Often in one paragraph some plurals will have an "s" and some will have apostrophe "s". They made up their own rule but that rule itself follows no pattern. Oakley, how did you go through all of your schooling as a child and young adult knowing how to pluralize but in adulthood, you changed all the rules? It's a very common grammar mistake and I have always wondered how people such as yourself got so confused....See MoreHelp with Decorating Open Floor Design House
Comments (26)Congratulations on your new home! Not sure but you may have one of those baby products, Fisher Price Rock n Play, that has been mentioned as possibly causing 30-some recent baby deaths. Please check the news to learn more. They aren't safe for babies older than 3 months. My neighbor with twins had four and she just disposed of them. If there is a recall, you may get a refund, but please don't take any chances. The American Academy of Pediatrics has called for an official recall but that hasn't happened yet....See Moreeverdebz
