Glass tile backsplash?
Comments (1)Just came across this. Hope some how the answer gets to you. I did a mosaic back splash. Stained glass mounted to mirror backing in sizes from 6 by 13 to 9 by 13. Almost two years ago. So far no problems. We do have our house on a regular cement foundation. Good luck Here is a link that might be useful: Glass Back splash....See Morehardibacker substrate for glass mosaic tile backsplash
Comments (1)"I see lots of backsplashes where the tile sits right on top of the countertop with no room for grout or caulking." A joint the same width as the grout joints should be there, and caulked. If caulk that matches the grout is used it often looks very good....See Moresolid glass panels as backsplash
Comments (9)I love my glass backsplash for the look. Use Starfire (Starphire?) glass if you want the back painting to be truer to color and not green-tinted. However, my first one cracked on installation and the current one has a stress crack in the same spot. In order to change it I would have to remove the plumbing on the sink (complicated in my case), so luckily the crack is hidden. I know of another case where a replacement was needed (something happened to back painting, company replaced) but they had to cut a slot in the wall into the next room to slide it into place. Its a great look, and I would do it again. Just be aware that if you go for a large monolithic piece, it is not "forgiving" if something happens to it....See Morereceptacles in glass tile backsplash?
Comments (6)We were supposed to go the plugmold route but had issues with color, size, etc. But we didn't want receptacles in the backsplash. We ended up doing skinny receptacle boxes mounted to the underside of the upper cabinet. The light rail on the bottom of the cabinet conceals it perfectly. Additionally, the electrical wires were able to be better concealed going into the box vs. the plugmold. Might be something to look into for you too....See MoreRelated Professionals
