Update to the 6 & 10 Rule: It only applies when the 1/3 - 2/3 Rule of Cantilevering applies (1' can cantilever over 2' of cabinets). If your slab is 2 cm, you can have up to a 6" overhang without support. If your slab is 3 cm you can have up to a 10" overhang without support . If you are using a pony wall or cabinets with a depth of less than 2 times the depth of the overhang, then you need to provide support to equal at least 2/3 of the total depth of the countertop. . Thank you for your quick reply.. ok should I match the wood floor color withthe seconf floor.. first floor is crema marfil marble but the stairs and second floor(family room+bedrooms) will be semi solid.. is it better to choose same color for kitchen floor to match with the rest parquet in the house?!

Tex max Im not sure what I want to do in the piano room yet…I wish the floors were all the same throughout the house- that will have to be a project for later- We May remodel the kitchen next year and that is when we would replace the floors throughout the 1st floor. Columns- either they should go away or be wrapped differently. For now we are leaving them. We have so many other projects currently in the works! Upstairs bath, downstairs powder bath, pool going in…

Thank you for the insight, unfortunately its not a question of budget or not to an extent (when I say that of course its not a 100000 budget but its not 0 either), its due to technical limitations of the house. There is a 6mm space for tiles or wood which is not a size thats made now for parquet which is part of the reason we have to stay with it. Due to the size of the house 200m2 we cant rip out the support base as its 30cm of concrete so its a work with what we can and try to make it updated a bit without exploding the house . I understand about the multiple materials, as its a 1970s house which means its maximalist in style which we are already dealing with. Below is a sampling of just the first floor . I cant really do wood (even wood tiles) in the kitchen because it would be overpowering, so I thought a fake cement tile thing to try and tie the yellow/orange of the parquet to the marble crema marfil in the hallway, or just go with a cream colored uni that we could also use in the bathrooms and the upper hallways. You can see the staircase has a golden hue which we like to keep
