Since you have the warmer tones of beige and browns in your house the mother of pearl might work best. If you go with the SW or the White Macabus (or Luna) then you will find yourself redecorating around it. The pearl is gorgeous. The River White is hard to tell from the pictures, but it might be warmer than the first 2. Can you share where you are located, or more important...where are these slabs? I have my fabricator on the hunt for SW, he has a few months to find them but I love to annoy him and say "look, I found some more". Also the thing about the Luna is the stripes, will you be using this on the perimeter? I ruled it out because my perimeter will be a U and at some point the stripes will have to run from the wall to the edge, that would bug me. But for an island only--fabulous or if you have just a straight run of counters. Sorry for the long post.....but do share where these are located, please. Good luck with the pricing

Clearly I am excited about this baby. It seems to be sold in two variants, large and small. A quick search, not an exhaustive one, shows a significant price variation on the small bell model, so it's not necessarily as affordable as I first thought, but it's not a bad price for a "killer piece" that would make a room extremely distinctive. One thing that would concern me is the 60 watt maximum. I have a 60 watt pendant inside a full globe over my sink and am happy with that am't of light, even if the bulb is the coated and not bare style, but it might not light up someone else's larger space. Look hard at wattage requirements for pendants, esp. if you're planning to put them on dimmers because many dimmers can't handle the compact fluorescent bulbs that allow us to increase the equivalent wattage of pendants. Also, for what it's worth, historical pieces of mercury glass almost inevitably have unsightly separation between the glass and the silvery finish inside the glass, much like the look you see on the coating side of old mirrors. Old merc glass pieces have a plug in an opening at the bottom through which the coating was inserted; not sure how this effect is achieved today. I would assume that the inside of the modern pieces is airtight and will not have the separation/corrosion effect. Then, again, I'm not too worried about a century from now when buying lighting fixtures. More than a half century since my house was built, I sure don't want to revive the ghastly cheap original fixtures of the original house so perhaps the next owner will hate my fixtures no matter what I choose. P.S.--I have two 1960s "satellite" ceiling fixtures which I have had to remove from my bedroom ceiling and which I refuse to just toss. SOMEONE will find these now-historic styles enchanting. I like the rectangle island much better too. It may be a bit more expensive than keeping the current footprint, but if you're going to be spending anything you may as well get something really functional. You can see about reusing things like cabinet doors, drawer fronts and end panels even if you need some new base cabinet boxes. I also like where GreenD shows the fridge (near the dining area). As mentioned above, you can use a laptop anywhere so I'd also skip the desk (they tend to be clutter magnets) and just make sure you have some outlets in your island. Regarding the floor: if you like the current tile but can't find an exact match to fill in any new spaces, you could consider doing a nicely coordinating pattern just in the space between your island and the permimeter cabinets. (And around the far side of the island if necessary but it doesn't look like you would need any new tile and that side.) I know tiles can get expensive even for a small area, but if you shop around and get creative you create something you like for a great price. I think we are doing it in black though, like this (which will pick up on the black cord of the pendant): As for the others, I really love the delicate simplicity of #6, so we may use it as a pendant in my daughter's bathroom. And I think the Tom Dixon beat lights might show up elsewhere in the house too. I just visited the Tom Dixon showroom last weekend, and I was smitten: In other news, I just finished our lighting plan and turned it over to our contractor!
