Pics from my trip to Disney World Florida!
Comments (10)Thanks for looking everyone! Bananatree94, Thanks for the IDs. You were definitely right on all those bird ID's and possibly the orchid ID too (I'm not sure since I dont know much about orchids!). Apparently Disney does protect their orchids, so they might have been given extra protection, but they were at least 25 feet above the ground, so I dont see how protection would be a very easy thing to accomplish! Someone ID'ed the Jubaea x Butia as a Syaragus x Butia, so it probably is just a very Butia looking Mule palm. Either way, its nice to see some palm hybrids on the property! Lzrddr, I think you might be right about that White Elephant Palm being potted. It does look like there is enough bare room underneath it for it to fit a pot. I did here that White Elephant Palms are somewhat frost tolerant and since the palm in this pic was in deep shade, its possible that it has not seen much of a frost even after last winters low temperature of 28F. Usually Orlando winters are above freezing, but they have not been so lucky with the past 2! Im sure that the Red Sealing Wax palm has to be potted up because even with heat, I dont see how they could survive last years Brutal winter. They can barely handle temperatures in the 40s! Jim, the plants definitely were one of my favorite about Disney! I was happy to see someone else taking pictures of plants so I didn't feel too alone, but plant lovers were definitely the minority! And I could definitely see why you thought the monkey's escaped, lol, the wire definitely looks like a telephone wire! -Alex...See MoreIs Disney World getting to expensive?
Comments (23)Been many times over the past 39 yrs... The unbiased opinion to your question, which I see in terms of capitalism, is no, they charge what the market will bear. They have a completely over-the-top uniqueness that affords this luxury. To answer it personally, I spent some time considering it last month and decided my personal finances didn't justify it. I can use the same amount of money to have fun all summer. But if I had more money this year, I would be going when school lets out. It really is fun, feels like there is no "real world" while you're there. I've done it all sorts of ways. The most enjoyable, psychologically, is to do a plan that includes everything you know you want - hotel room you like, number of meals per day, added activities like golf. If you can get over the shock of, and the actual expense before you go, it's a much better and smoother experience. You will feel very pampered. sungil woo, if you had done more research before your trip, you would have learned about fast pass, probably have been able to buy the entrance tickets and harry potter tickets ahead of time, had a chance to hear from others about their experiences, seen pictures, etc... You may have decided you would not enjoy it, or you may have known more about how to make the most of your time there. They did not take any money which you did not give willingly, prices are in print for all to see....See MoreGreat week at Disney World
Comments (2)What fun! We haven't been in twenty years. Our DS wanted to revisit a a few years before he met our present DIL. We stayed at one of the hotels in the park and ate at the various nations' restaurants. I guessed he was ready to settle down by the way he was watching all the children enjoying the park. We might be seeing Orlando again, now that DS' youngest is almost four. DIL's BIL works for Disney's game designs, and the kids have *everything* "Disney". We'll see how DGD manages -- me, too! -- when they join us in Maui this Christmas. How old is your little cutie DGD now?...See MoreBirthday girl at Disney World!
