I daylilies 2018
Comments (30)urchinsushi, longest bloom time really varies. Each daylily has a region it does best in and this is a baseline but not always a guarantee. Some like constant full sun, some like some shade and the amount of blooms or season depends on that. Some rebloom extending blooms season but you can't depend on them reblooming. The more north you are the less likely. I've had some that did terrible in one part of the yard and great in another and there seems to be no reason why. I've traded for good bloomers from other and had them do well, other times not. The best way to have them bloom them all summer would be to have a variety based on bloom times. They have different bloom times, extra early, early, early-mid, mid, mid-late, late and extra late....See MoreV daylilies 2018
Comments (20)Thanks guys, now I've had to add another one to my wish list - Voila Francois. Here are some V's from me. VALDOSTA AGAIN - received as a gift at the Valdosta National, reblooms here and a pretty nice plant. It's dormant and pod fertile. VALENTINE DARLING - reblooms here, but may want to be further south VAMPIRE FISH - grown for club starting with single fan - slow to increase and I only counted 12 buds. I now have my one fan so perhaps it will perform better if it works its way up to 4 or 5 fans. VANILLA STELLA - it has rebloomed here but with a bud count of only 4. It's pretty brand new. I hope to use it in hybridizing for rebloom on diploids. VATICAN CITY - I have a lot of it. Maybe it increases well or maybe it's been here forever. It's a beautiful color. VEIN PRETENDER - so far I've counted 4 branches and 15 buds - fairly new here VICTORIAN LACE - beautiful, fragrant, can't say I've noticed wonderful branching or bud count VISUAL INTRIGUE - low bud count VIVID BUTTERFLY - another low bud count, but a nearly perfect looking flower to my eye...See MoreW daylilies 2018
Comments (34)WHALE TAILS - I've used this one in hybridizing A LOT and you do get lots of whale tail patterns. WHEN MY SWEETHEART RETURNS - nice one from Apps that reblooms late. WHITE CHOCOLATE - saw this in Margo's garden and had to order it. She and Jim produce too many really nice "whites" and one can only use to many whites in the garden. WHITE FORMAL - Lenington 1965. Awful picture. Planted way over by the fence in the back yard and I've just never bothered to get rid of it ... I'll try to check to see if it is even there still. It did win lots of awards in its day. WHITE STRIPE - reblooms here, not all foliage is variegated by any means - quite a whitish flower. WHITE ON RICE - instant rebloom - not very white but very pretty WHITE EYES PINK DRAGON WILD WILD AND WONDERFUL WILD THORNBERRY - new here and not wonderful yet...See MoreTop Bud Numbers for Daylilies 2018
Comments (33)Debra all your bud kings / queens are beautiful too! Love that August Cherry pic! And always love the bicolor / bitone look! I don't know if I am gonna count, my days of 35-40 buds are gone, they are so crowded, and I have never had so few buds on plants as this year. Maybe Lullaby Baby as it builds buds and kinda always is among my best. And Isle of Patmos looks pretty well-budded. I can name the worst though, Berry Delicious - 1 scape with 2 buds, and Nature's Crown - 4 scapes with 1 bud per scape (it dropped all the others as it usually does)...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
