can you use a enamel bath tub for carnivorous plants
Comments (8)Of course. The only hassle is the depth of the tub. What I would do is to get some compressed bales of sphagnum moss or peat moss. Sit them in the tub, put in a stopper, and fill with rain water to let the bales soak for a few days until they are soaking wet.Pull the bales out of the tub and let drain off. Then find a stopper that is a little smaller to fit in the drain hole so that the water will slowly leak out of the tub, provided you have the tub sitting on top of the ground. If you plan to bury the tub to its brim then lay in a foot or so of gravel before placing the tub into the hole. Once the smaller stopper is placed into the drain hole, take the bales of sphagnum and/or peat moss and pack them into the tub. I use my foot to pack down the moss. You should have enough packed in to fill up to about a foot from the top of the tub. Then have some more peat moss that has been soaked and drained handy to mix with river sand in equal portions. Pack this mix into the top 8 inches of the tub. The top of the substrate level should be about 3 inches below the top of the tub. Fill with rain water and then let the water level drop below the surface of the substrate before planting your bog plants. You can poke along the side of the tub down into the substrate to see where the top of the water level is. Once it hits the packed in bales refill water to the top of the substrate....See MoreHow many of you actually use your whirlpool tubs?
Comments (31)i emailed the jason rep to find out what exactly the lumbar thing means for $200 more, and haven't heard back yet, but now my husband said i had to choose between white and bisque UGHH more decisions lol. i definitely think i want to stick with the jason because compared to the other tubs in the showroom it was amazingly quiet. to answer the question-i think mainly it will just be me in the tub. my husband has not taken 1 bath in the 15 years i have known him and i don't see him starting. we were supposed to do this project 2 years ago but right before starting i was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through chemo and radiation which left me with arthritis in my hips, and all over body aches, this the reason i really want to make sure i get the right tub, it is definitely for therapeutic reasons. i have a very good prognosis, and am excited we have the opportunity to work on this again, and i just want it all to end up cozy and warm and inviting, and i am struggling with the floor plan, the color of the tub and shower etc, the fixtures color, the trim color, and i don't have very long to decide!! Scary!! p.s. i really think the chromatherapy thing is neat. i know it may seem silly to some, but i think i would enjoy that. It is $200.00 more, do many of you have it and do you think it was worth it?...See MoreHow often do you use your airbath or does the novelty wear off??
Comments (21)Hmmmm. My air tub is something I used almost every night! I love it, use it and never get tired of it. I find it quite easy with regard to maintenance as well (I also like bath oils to add to it which can leave a film on it). The nice thing is once I'm out, All I do is turn the hand held sprayer (at the edge of the tub deck) and using the hot water I quickly spray the perimeter of the tub for no more than 2 or 3 minutes and its spotless. It's always looks brand new - maybe because I use it every day or because I just run the hot sprayer over it as soon as I get out. It also has an automatic cleaner that blows the air "lines" clear so there is no water sitting around anywhere. It's an oceania 72" deep air tub. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!...See MoreHow do YOU clean your tub?
Comments (19)You can get the kind that just slide onto a small shower head or the tub spout and you have a shower wand. That's one thing I wouldn't be without. For cleaning it I have one of those Mr. Clean things on an adjustable handle. Can't remember the name. Magic Reach or something like that? Just bought another shorter version that uses something like a Scotchbright pad now that I don't have a water softener I get the stains I didn't before so I need to do a little more cleaning... one of these days....See Morefunctionthenlook
