Updating an 80s contemporary home
Comments (32)I love the 80's Shed roof style home! We are in the middle of our own 80's modern renovation! One of the first things we did was to replace the tired asphalt shingle roof with a fresh black metal roof, painted the exterior in Sherwin-Williams Urban Bronze with Black trim, Replaced the existing garage door with a Cloplay Frosted glass panel door, added a Sapele wood courtyard entry fence and replaced the entire front entry opening with a massive glass panel and an asian inspired 48' wide front door. We have made a positive impact on our neighbors... they are amazed at the transformation!...See MoreUpdating an 80s contemporary shed style house in Denver

Comments (6)Dark sky compliance is much appreciated by professional and amateur astronomers as well as local wildlife. I suggest picking a compliant contemporary style fixture you love for the front door area, then other fixtures from the same manufacturer's line for the rest. You can search " dark sky lighting site:houzz.com " in google. Comments (8)I'm not a structural engineer, but the two tall skinny posts holding up the second-story deck landing look precarious to me. I would have an engineer check that. Replacing the wooden balusters with something that's not wood will decrease your exterior maintenance. I like the idea of glass but that is not exactly maintenance-free either. A cable system might look good, and the horizontal wires would echo the horizontal siding and brick. Nice house!...See MoreRelated Professionals
