Need help/opinions on window treatments in master bath
Comments (10)Yes, I custom designed a mock Roman shade for my mother based on a totally function Roman shade that I made for myself (see 4th pic below). She loved the way it looked pulled up, so here are pictures: Not yet installed, still lying on the floor (approx. 16" long): Sorry for the poor lighting where it was installed. It is hanging about 8" higher than the window frame, barely covering the top moulding: Another one for my mother in a different room and different fabric: This was the her inspiration shade which is a fully functional Roman shade covering a window about 65" tall and 29" wide frame to frame: I used Simplicity pattern #9986, but had to adjust for a smaller width and longer length. You could also Google "mock roman shade" to see other styles. It will depend on the ACTUAL shade you choose and then design one to match how it looks pulled up....See MoreNeed help: Would you move the toilet in our master bath?
Comments (12)Hi GN F, this is what I had in mind. Sorry I am not better w mock up. Thought that would provide privacy for shower and toilet, and keep moisture confined to that area w fan. It depends on your real estate market what would make the most sense, and it may be worth exploring comparable real estate listings to see what type of competition you will face at resale. If this feels awkward and confined you may be better off w your original plan. If you move toilet to right of shower, will shower remain in its position or rotate 90 degrees? If you rotate shower you will have more space for Your toilet room....See MoreHelp updating our new master bath
Comments (3)sammie has a good point. if your intention is to redo tub/shower, it's easier just to wait and do the vanity tops and floor tile. (you certainly don't want to do the floor now. wait until you're ready for the tub) can you do a skylight? i'm with you on the painting the vanities. Or, you may just want to sell that one w/the granite/sink/faucet, and purchase all inclusive new ones. Is that in the budget? You could prob get 400-500 for yours on craigslist, and purchase a new one in the 1200 range. (with everything) painting it would mean you'd have to completely sand down the finish on that one, prime, sand again, and carefully paint. it's rather ornate, so it's going to take a bit of finesse. I don't mind the mirror over the tub, as it bounces around the light. but you could always replace it w/a piece of art. Again, you're piecing this doing a little at a time. I'd wait until you have the finances to do it how you want it. retile the shower (maybe enlarge it) and get your new tub and flooring. expect to pay in the 15-25 K range, depending on what you choose...See MoreHelp needed - shower layout for small master bath with dead corner
Comments (3)Thanks @Patricia Colwell -- we came to that conclusion as well re: the toilet. We've decided to go with glass for the full wall to keep it open and eliminate the pony or full wall. @Paul NY 5b-6a - agree, only 32" for the fridge! Not sure why they marked 40 initially. Even though it makes for a silly jog, we want to keep the deeper fridge. Pantry will only be ~24" deep for that exact reason - we'll likely put a linen cupboard in the hall bath that backs up to that space. Updated floor plan for the bath attached. We'll use the "dead" space for a couple niches (shaving + soaps), and maybe put some little shelves on the side wall facing the toilet or something (I'll leave that to the designer). Thank you both for your help!...See MoreRelated Professionals
