mike home - Supply to the bedroom is very weak and the temp is weak as well. So, I have examined the duct in the basement and in fact his past weekend I exposed the duct leading to the room by cutting open the kitchen ceiling. I realy wanted to make sure I had no leaks. It's in perfect condition. Now I have a 1' X 18' opening in the ceiling to patch... Well worth it! Before I close it up I will insulate it with Foiled Bubblewrap. The return on the first floor is sucking in air but, no mad rush of air or anything like that..It does hold paper even when only covering half of the vent. NOTE: In the winter when standing at the bottom of the stairs leading to the second floor there is a rush of cold air coming down the stairs. I contribute this to the fact there is no return on the second floor. thanks for your comment(s)

WOW mjlb - some great ideas. I've always had one vision in my head but this is a wonderful place where strangers come up with great ideas. Now I need to wrap my head around it. Why the tub/shower and not just a shower? I thought most people would prefer only a shower. This is an old house that was changed over the years. Original brick house built somewhere 1835 - 1845 (it was always listed 1825 but old maps did not show it then). Addition - where this room is located was added 1860's or so and then converted it into a 2 family in 1914 and this room into a kitchen. I think the addition was the summer kitchen and this was a servant's room. The "small" room turned into the pantry for the 2nd floor kitchen in 1914. The doorway into the main house was added when converted into a 2 family. The wall where the bed would go isn't flat but I may be able to work around it (sent DH and DS to take measurements and was surprised they weren't more exact). The window part jets out a little plus the "pillar" made of brick. Here are more pictures of the room Looking into the new guest bath Pantry built in I would like to keep but open up the top. Hello, I am katsmah's daughter. Thank you for all your compliments and ideas on the room. Almost everything you have recommended, I have tried, but she can be rather stuborn. First, I would like to say, I never leaned toward Tiffany Blue. I think it's too bright, and she doesn't like it anyway. I think the blue-ish grey that you see everywhere now would be beautiful in here. As far as prints, I think a Damask would be nice, it's mature and elegant to go with her beautiful furniture, but she doesn't like Damask, or really any prints for that matter. She wants to do stripes, which I think wouldn't go with the lines of the furniture. As far as moving the furniture around, I did a whole layout on a free website, but she said that outside wall is too cold, and she sleeps here, so it's her say in the end. As far as the headboard, I had first traced out the front arch of the dresser to get the proper length, it's the same width as a queen bed, and then I lined up the ends of the mirror to flow seemlessly into the arch and cut that out, but I don't think I can make a wood frame around it....Update! I just found out she want's Damask now, not stripes anymore. Thank you, now I can actually get this thing started. She is starting to trust me now that you have all confirmed what I have been saying. Thank you all.

I was really glad to see the upholstered bed in the second bed option, cause as I was looking at the room pics & sketch, that what I had in mind IMMEDIATELY. I LOVE that room (LOVE small spaces) & here's my suggestions: 1. Upholstered bed in natural linen. 2. Closet wall & crown moulding in SW Westhighland White. Walls & ceiling in Canvas Tan (flat) 3. Bedding in a soft color...no pattern. Pattern will only make the room smaller. 4. An upholstered bench at the end of the bed in the same linen as the bed with perhaps contrast welt in the color of the bedding. Ebony legs. (Check out Bassett Furniture for both the bed & the bench as an alternative to where you're looking) 5. Ditch the globe pic. Whatever goes over the bed needs to be a simple stretched canvas in soft colors, or sepia tones. 6. I vote for simple bamboo or burlap roman shades inset on the windows. 7. Think more about texture than color & pattern in this room. 8. Consider these for over the nightstands to save all table space.
