Think BIG! I think you need to do the entire wall. And make the door sorta disappear into a larger motif. I'm not the idea gal, but start thinking big. A mural on the whole wall, and you can mount a large mirror or metal sculpture or something else on the door and never even notice it.

You're saying you can't paint the door? What about a door mural? Most are peel and stick and would remove easily:

Can you put a curtain on that wall too?

Probably the HOA association rules say that she can't paint it. I like the last two ideas. peel-stick or curtain.

why don't you tell us what you can do and what you would like?

you can't even see the door. Find out from them what is allowed, first, and go from there. you could always put up some wood shelving on either side of the door for plants. and can you at least spruce up the paint color and install new door hardware? that would help. see if you're allowed to put on any trim work to the door (it would be the same color as door).

If you can afford it, get more of the blue panels and cover that wall - maybe cover that one and the one behind the sectional.

Give the walls a good scrubbing.

Instead of the plant, hang a large candle lantern on the hook. You can use remote control LED candles for safety. If you're allowed, hang another one on the other side of the door and add a very shallow (maybe 10" deep) shelf to the left wall, perfect for a pitcher of lemonade and a few glasses. Mount a bright piece of art to the door.

To me the least attractive part is the transition from wall to floor, so if you can direct your eye up and away from that it will probably help a lot.

Your patio looks great! If nothing else, I would hang something on the door, you could even hang a wreath. What I also notice is the space below the door. Maybe a nice little mat would draw the eye away from the door. You could also add some plants in a rectangular basket or pot on either side of the door to hide where the concrete meets the wall. Perhaps add something to make a step between the door and the concrete since there is a gap.

Where does the door lead? Is it storage?

Is the door functional? Does it have to be? Or can it be blocked?

These are typically HVAC and storage.

Many townhouse community HOAs here have a strict color scheme for the exterior of the building but you can do whatever you want with the yards or patios, and some of them have lots of things going on. I know someone who lives in one and it almost seem like they aren't paying attention but if you paint your front door the "wrong" color, it's noticed immediately.

The door is the sole storage for the condo.....had a similar one. No painting allowed. Since you added the rug, the space looks much more inviting....good choice! I’m sure the door is metal.....there are large magnet hooks available at Home Depot, etc. Also available there are inexpensive reed blinds. They have rings for hanging...... Do put a plant to the left to disguise the uneven floor.

I'm afraid if I hang another curtain it's just too blue, and I'll feel closed in. I LOVE the idea of hanging reed blinds to camouflage the door! I need access because it's storage and my water heater.

The blue curtains look good. MORE CURTAINS!!! In this case I would suggest a contrast color. The weird pock marks above the storm door seem to be from another curtain rod. By putting that fixture back up and having it wrap around in front of the door, that could look good:restoration effects. Not sure what color yet. but for each side of the door: Hanging wood beads for the win!

That plant hanger would hide well , maybe some fake plants would be good decoration in the corners too, bright stuff, inorganic. DIY fake funky orange cactus in clay pots. It would match that biege color and contrast the blue curtains.

How about a large macrame wall hanging larger than the door.

That looks very nice, and it somehow makes the patio seem larger and more intriguing: like there's something interesting just beyond that door (instead of the "entry forbidden" sense it had before). Coordinates with the furniture, too, so it becomes part of the whole design. What a good idea! Cute rug, too.

Now, how about some artwork on the opposite wall?
