Dying Fiddle Leaf Fig— mealy bugs? HELP!

Comments (0)My fiddle leaf fig is too tall for our space. It grew a TON this past spring and when I got back from vacation last week, it has officially hitting the ceiling. It's growing out of every possible place it can, both larger trunks, the smaller one down below, even a tiny stem that's hasn't grown anything in 3 years. It breaks my heart a bit to trim back all these beautiful leaves but the branches are definitely too heavy. The branch on the right has been losing a lot of leaves as well, hence the big bald spot in leaves (Probably due to lack of water due to us being out of town a lot this summer). My question is can I cut it back now? In September? It grows year round really, it never seems to really go dormant. And how far back should I cut it back? Any tips would be much appreciated!...See MoreCan I save a dying fiddle leaf fig/ficus lyrata?
Comments (0)I took this plant from a friend who purchased it at a grocery store... which is maybe where its problems began. It developed a lot of brown spots at the edges of the leaf and also some more central in the leaf. This makes me think it has been overwatered and has "root rot."(In photos the brown spots have mostly been trimmed away) The leaves are also turning a light green, brown color in some areas. In any case, this plant is not looking good. At this rate, I plan to let the soil dry out and trim the roots and repot with fresh soil. Any other advice? I'm curious to test how resilient this plant is said to be....See MorePLEASE HELP! Fiddle Leaf Fig dropping leaves, browning/yellowing leave
Comments (4)I would repot your Fiddle Leaf Fig with new good quality potting soil and into a slightly bigger pot with drainage holes. A clay type pot is better than plastic. Make sure your Fig isn’t being exposed to hot air from a vent and turn the plant every now and then so that it gets even light...See Morekatrynacrabbe
