I too am frustrated with trying to get clean, streak-free laminate floors. We decided to purchase the cheapest by the square foot laminate that has quite the shine to it. I tried microfiber mops, water, vinegar. I made the mistake of initially trying to clean them with Mop 'N Glo. I recently purchased a Shark steam mop at the recommendation of a coworker and while the pad shows dirt is being picked up, my floors are left streaky, even only using the recommended distilled water. I'm at my wits end here trying to get the streaks off these floors. I guess Bona is next on my list to try. I'm getting quite a collection of different mops and cleaners but I'd like to find just one that actually works!

We've had laminate floors for a few months now. The upstairs is a lighter, low gloss finish, the downstairs is a dark, high gloss finish. The upstairs is the easiest. Just a quick vacuum with a stick vac and a run over with a microfiber dry mop and we're good to go. The downstairs? The same thing, but it needs to be done more often (every other day, vs. twice a week) Still, for the look of the downstairs high gloss, it's well worth it to me. I do have a spray bottle of Bruce cleaner for laminate floors, but I hardly ever seem to use it, and when I do, it's mostly for the entry hall where we come in from outside.

I'm going to install about 400 sq of laminate. I've been looking at Costco's Brazilian Cherry, which has a matte finish and very basic print pattern. Today at Home Depot, I looked at Home Legend Brazilian Cherry in a glossy piano finish. It looks much more realistic than the Costco Harmonics brand. My question is: Do you like a piano finish floor, or is it hard to keep looking clean? I'm afraid it will show dust and smudges fast. Also, does anyone have experience with either of these brands? Thanks

The darker the laminate, the more the dust will show, we have mahogony (a medium tone) and I still have to run the dust mop over them about once a week, and clean with a vinegar/water spray about once a month to keep them shiny and streak free.
