I got quotes from 3 of the major players in my area. Plus I simply asked them why I should buy there. I also wanted to know return policy, 30 days 0% restock was appealing. Once I asked for a quote on everything I was surprised the discounts on KA or JennAir where 25% and 20%. All stores quoted prices close enough it really came down to policies. My fav has a large repair department that fixes anything. A small dealer showed me that while Miele has UMRP their price book has 3 prices, a MAP, and a Min Price that was about 6% to 7% off. So they can sell for less, but not like 20% to 25% off. The lowest prices are had buying floor models and returns. That can take a lot of time depending on what you are looking for, it might become a weekly pursuit. Many larger chains have a location for all that stuff, get the word to someone there abut what you are looking for. I did a complete remodel so I wanted to buy new. It concerns me to know my appliance had its door opened and possibly abused, its buttons hammered, etc, by 1000's of adults and children. I am hard on floor models because I want to know if they feel solidly put together before I buy them. I work the handles, racks, etc, hard to know they feel solid.

In our area there are several Best Buy stores with Pacific Sales inside. All have adequate high end appliance selections. We spoke with sales persons in different locations; it seems every one is quite knowledgeable and experienced. The price on the closed out models are incredible. An individual Pacific Sales Store 30 miles from us carrying tons of high end appliances, Viking, Wolf, Thermador, Subzero, gaggenau..etc. When we are ready for kitchen appliances, we would definitely look at their selections. The store is our go to place for plumbing fixtures. The prices on high end fixtures, toilets, and sinks are so much better than FergusonâÂÂs. Some are priced lower than internet prices. The woman we dealt with is extremely knowledgeable and responsive. They do special order too.

I feel a certain moral obligation to buy from local salespeople if they are particularly helpful, even if I can save a little money elsewhere. And I generally believe in the "shop local" ethic...I like to support the Mom and Pops when I can. For my last kitchen, I bought most everything from one dealer who took time to really educate me about my choices. However, he really did not believe in the Vent-A-Hood technology and did not want to sell me one. Kind of amazing! So, I ordered one through US Appliance and it was a completely satisfactory experience. I would have bought from them again for the kitchen in my new house, but surprisingly, the local dealer gave me better prices. And they will be my local service provider, so I am happy to start a relationship with them.

I'm going to point out a couple of considerations about that layout. They are just in case you haven't thought about it. I'm sure you have as its just about the layout you have now. a. Using the cooktop will sometimes involve asking the person at the sink to move. (Anytime those drawers under the cooktop are opened). b. Using cabinet one will sometimes involve asking the person at the cooktop to move. c. Its going to be harder to get into the corner uppers with a modern hood that sticks out further - perhaps even more than today because the corner upper cabinets look like they might be smaller. d. Be careful about leaving allowance for fillers in the corners and up against a wall - particularly when using frameless cabinets. In a corner, the filler on both sides needs to be the depth of the door AND the depth of the handle plus a tiny bit - so that the cabinets on both sides can open properly. Up against a wall, you should allow for a 3/4" piece of starter molding - except that you may need more to clear your door casing. e. Be careful about wall cabinets with wide doors that open over counters and the amount that the hinge allows the door to open. Looking at the wall cabinet door arrangement over the dishwasher - it looks like you've skipped the first cabinet and put dishes into the second cabinet. You may want to rethink that. You could get brained by the cabinet door or left in the slightly odd situation where the door doesn't open wide enough to be able to pick something out of the dishwasher and put it away without first putting it on the counter to avoid crashing it into the counter. Or you have to walk around the open dw door to put stuff away. This is just my personal opinion, but I would move the dw back over to the left and put the main dish storage on the first cabinet to the right. f. Same wall cabinets - opening the center cabinet prevents both other cabinet doors from opening - certainly not the end of the world or anything.
