Zoey.I have the same style house as yours and also had the large picture window. I always had trouble with any kind of window treatment so we saved our money and finally replaced it with three side by side double hung windows with the mini blinds inside the glass. Mine our made by Pella but I believe other Mfgs. are making the blinds between the glass now. We absolutely love these windows!! We love how we can now open all three or just one. We live on a lake and I hate running the AC. Our cats love this set up also. We have a nice trim around the windows and I don't have any window treatments up at all, but that is just my preference. Maybe if the three double hung together won't look good on the outside of your house, you could look into some other style with the mini blinds. I am now curtain free as long as I want to be. Love it!!!! I know this is an expensive suggestion, but something to maybe think about going forward. From another Zoey

Have you done "test spots" of the gray on the brick yet? If not, I'd start there. You may need to paint the siding a different color, depending on how the Romabio ends up looking. Looks like you have a very light and cool bluish-gray right now. If the brick ends up looking warmer, then I'd suggest a warmer contrasting color for the siding.. Also - once you do the brick, are you looking to change the door colors? Looks like you have two front doors, I'd personally change the color of the main door and paint the second door the same color as either the brick or the siding. I'm sure other folks will chime in about adding landscaping..

I am no landscaping expert, but even something like this makes your entry more important. I'm sure that someone else will have some better ideas on how to improve this area and make it more welcoming. OK just saw the entrance image. Are we going for a contemporary home or an olde tyme cottage home?????? Have their been some changes to the original building?? The reason I ask is that I was getting ready to propose a contemporary garage door to go with your boulder stones. Which was do you want to go???

The house is great just as it is. As others have said, what it needs is a good landscape plan. Add a curved planting area from the corner of the walkway to the end of the house. And plant a specimen tree further out into the yard. You'll be adding value to your home as well as making it look more interesting and welcoming. Be sure to keep the plants from blocking your low windows.
