Painting Kitchen Cabinets White
Comments (40)jellytoast-- I also painted all the oak trim and 6 panel wood doors in our house. I used Benjamin Moore Aura Chantily Lace in satin finish for the trim and Benjamin Moore Aura Black Bean Soup in satin finish for the doors. I agree that BM is shinier/glossier than other paints. If I had to do it all over again, I would do the same thing. I am glad I used the BM semi-gloss in the kitchen, because it cleans up really easy if you have spills/splatters. In the bathroom, I didn't think I needed it that glossy....and I am happy that I used satin finish. However, I agree that BM paint is glossier than most paints....so a semi-gloss in BM is probably more of a satin in other brands?? I can post some pics of my bathroom, trim & doors, ect......See MorePainting Cabinets - white appliances
Comments (12)walnutcreek, thank you! I use it in my career on occasion so I've learned a bit about it. Makes "seeing" the finished product easier for me, and also for my husband, who has trouble visualizing. linelle, ours are enameled metal, except the fridge handles are plastic. They have changed color slightly, despite my best efforts to clean them. Oh well. I might go stainless in the new house, but it will just depend on the budget. I'd rather have enameled white or black than the "stainless look" that I see on the cheaper ones, it looks kind of like a plastic-y covering. I think what I REALLY want is a French door fridge, probably counter depth, regardless of the color. But this one will have to do for now! :)...See MorePainting oak cabinets white?
Comments (5)We are in the middle of this project! We are doing it partially DIY - we removed the doors, cleaned, patched and repaired, sanded, and send them off to be painted by a pro in a spray booth. The cabinet boxes we are painting ourselves using a microfiber roller. We ended up going with Insl-X STIX for the primer, and Ben Moore Advance for the cabinet paint. It's self leveling, which does help to fill in some of the shallow grain. I'll be posting pictures of our finished product - probably not until around the end of the month, since vacation is coming up. :) I think if you get a professional to do it all the way, you'll get what you pay for. A pro will be able to fill in the grain for you so that it's almost invisible, but don't expect it to be cheap! That's why we're going the partial DIY route....See MorePainting mahogany cabinet white
Comments (3)Yes, and you can make it. I believe the recipe is simply flat latex paint and plaster of Paris in some ratio. But as far as YouTubes go, many of them feature the Annie Sloan brand....See Morehoussaon
