Comments (7)Thanks. The closet definitely needs to be there, and it actually has to go to the ceiling in order to hide the plumbing. The walls are painted, it's a little more yellow in real life, but we went that light to not darken the room. However, I'm considering repainting because it does look so white. the baseboards are up too, I just haven't taken a picture with them on. I'll mess around with sketchup to see what staggered shelves look like....See MoreHow To Emulate This Barn Door Closet (Wall-Length Closet Design)
Comments (4)The barn doors completely cover the opening. Ideally you would have a two inch overlap on either side but I have some that have one inch on either side and they still look amazing. The photo that you have pictured just shows them opened. If you have room on either side of the door for them to slide open then you could have the doors on one rail; which is a lot cheaper. Otherwise you will need a bypass door which is more $$. I got my rails and doors for two closet at rusticahardware.com but I just installed another one today (partially done in my basement where my furnace is as there was no other option) These were significantly cheaper and I bought them at homedepot. Something new that they carry. I'll be making the doors tomorrow. Hope you decide to do it. I love the look!...See MorePlease show me your closets with curtain doors
Comments (14)lol graywings! The doors are already down but here is a link to very similar doors. https://www.homedepot.com/p/36-in-x-80-in-Colonial-Primed-Textured-Molded-Composite-MDF-Closet-Bi-fold-Door-THDJW160600151/202037489. We're putting barn doors on the bathroom door to the right of it and on my closet door which is on another wall. This may be our forever home; we're in our 50s and no kids at home. I'll try to get a photo of his closet. He doesn't want the doors back up so I'm looking for another solution but they may go back up anyway. I have no decorating skills but I'm determined to learn damnit! Here's a link that shows curtains that look decent: https://www.drivenbydecor.com/one-room-challenge-master-bedroom-reveal/ though I think it would look better if they matched the grey?...See MoreCloset laundry dilemna
Comments (3)15” is a lot of space! In most high $/sq ft condos in my city some of the biggest “storage space” is in a laundry closet, you’ll find vacuums and luggage and mops and buckets all neatly tucked in around stacked units like yours!! If you want to keep the pipes accessible do something on wheels like the ikea utility carts! But I’d put 1 foot shelves down the whole wall of the side with 15”!!...See MoreMichelle Turan
