Asking a professional to give you his time for free for a consultation that you should have had (and paid for) with your own architect is foolish at this late date. It's also borderline rude to ask him to donate his professional services to you in a private consult when that is how he puts the bread on his table. It's like asking a doctor at a party to listen to this nagging cough that you've had for a couple of months. Your own architect is the one that should be on the hook to fix this mess. Since you asked for opinions, here goes: Shed roof dormers instead of the gabled dormers would be more appropriate for a Craftsman style home. Eliminate the sad inappropriate attempt at a Palladian window. 6 over 1 windows and cedar shingles would also be more appropriate. Eliminate the shutters entirely. You need much more substantial sized support columns for the porch--and fewer in number. Stone for the columns would add a nice natural accent. Even with doing all of that, you still will have only have some Craftsman styling on a modern home. You'd have to do a substantial redrawing of the whole structure from your architect to achieve a true Craftsman style home. For example, the roof pitch would have to be lowered and the rafter tails become part of the signature style of the home. You need to emphasize a strong horizontal line in the home's design rather than the verticality that the present design exhibits. This is one of the hazards of buying one of the housemill plans off of the net.

Envelope- assuming you mean the skeleton/groundwork? Envelope meaning the color of the floor, walls, ceiling and trim. That makes up the color envelope of the room in to which you put the contents. Contents being rugs, furniture, accessories, art -- all your stuff. If you keep it neutral and cohesive, then you have a flexible envelope. That way the space can evolve over time as you add and/or change the contents. With this strategy you don't need a bold accent wall or to boldly accent mediocre architectural elements like the ceiling beams. Mediocre not in a bad way, but they're just beams kinda way. Because the more bells and whistles you add to the envelope, the less your special contents will stand out. If everything is special, than nothing is. Keep the envelope simple so your stuff like the guitars have some room to shine.

No, it's not bad at all, I find it very livable I would be worried about seeing back of TV, (I don't like seeing backs of things, especially TVs lol..it's kinda personal)..and I'd be afraid to trip on the wires, since I'm clumsy-but I don't know what to suggest instead, as overall layout works for you (my wires are also in dissarray)) they're just hidden better, and are under the console which is next to the wall, so no risk of tripping over them. but frankly I could have done a better job with them. In some instances, I stick wires in a basket or something..lol) I think it's a great job overall that you did. You created a personal, cozy, functional space, and with all the limitations you had it still reads big)) I see some listings of studios/very small apartments (checking real estate here and there lol)-few people achieve what you did. btw if you like some inspiration, regardless whether you feel like you're done or not-I always like more inspiration, because it brings new ideas to me, not only in decor, but in general-the last issue of House Beautiful deals with small spaces, and I'd say it's one of their more interesting issues, at least to me. I like seeing how everybody's handling theirs differently. Granted it's not even close to ordinary person's possibilities in budget etc, but it's fun to look at anyway. Especially as they all are in different locales..that's cool Relationship of inside-outside is so important..and it's great how you used your balcony, to that effect, too. I would need to see a better close up of the rug that is staying, but to give you an idea of updates that would help. Paint in the lighter blue color, or the ivory, cabinets, walls and ceiling. You can leave the center ones darker, and if that blue matches the one in the rug, then that works. For the backs of the cabinets, put a nice ivory/light blue damask wallpaper that matches the cabinet paint color and ivory in the room and rugs. Replace the mirror with one like pictured below. Update all the pulls with crystal ones like pictured here. Update the lamp to a crystal one, and replace the fan with a crystal chandlier.
