That's a fairly dark gray. I hope there are lots of windows for natural light. If you select satin chrome light fixtures they will be the same value as your walls and blend in to the walls. I would contrast with fixtures in an iron like or blackish bronze finish Designers do not typically recommend lights on ceiling fans. The quality of the light is typically not flattering.

Although pretty, these fixtures will not give you "a lot of light", for a couple of reasons, 1. they are shrouded in the crystal which will shadow 2. they are pushing light to the ceiling. 3. the one with Edison style bulbs is just altogether no good. As the space is formal dressy is a good thought, however, large chandeliers will overpower the room. I would go with something much simpler, thin arm with shades, help force light down or Something from justice designs with downlight , they make the most amazing light fixtures

The fan is on the "to do" list for sure, as well as replacing the furniture (see my original post). By the way, the wall with the sofa is the garage (so no windows can go there). @latifolia Seriously, this house has...in total 1 sidelight window next to the front door, 1 glass slider in the living room, 2 55" x 33" in the family room, 1 glass slider in the master, and 1 x 20" x 55" windows in the the two other bedrooms...oh, and a little kitchen window and little ones in the bathrooms. The problem is all but the guest room windows face N.E. and I live in a wooded area, so it's pretty darn dark! Landscaping certainly would come into play, but it's only about 10 feet between the house and the fence. The front door is one solid piece of metal (photo below)...I am already planning on replacing with something that is at least 1/4 glass, and considering putting an opening into the wall between the entry and the living room. Please ignore the nasty looking plant, it to is on the "replace" list. @Jessamy Tsoris Any suggestions on the number / types of lights for the space?

So the sofa, rug and table are here! I just have to put the table and sofa together this weekend. I chose art that I decided on and a few throws that I'm choosing between. I'm starting to look at curtains since my goal is to get everything ready be New Years (hopefully!) But I'm really stuck on what kind of curtains to get. With these art and throw choices, I guess the room is more....eclectic. I'm not sure whether to get solid curtains or patterned ones since the rug is pretty patterned already. Here is the art/throws I picked out. I will have these two art side by side behind the sofa. I'm still deciding whether to get 15x21 or 20x26 for the art. I guess I'll have a better idea once the sofa/table is set up. For the throws, I'm getting two of the beige ones for the back pieces and the black/white floral and red one for the 2 front pieces. Now for the curtains.....it's the hardest to really decide. I don't even know where to start!
