Roses from Home Depot arrived and....
Comments (43)My first and second orders are happily planted and growing, and my mom called today to say her Julia Child arrived. She said it was much bigger and healthier than the potted Julias we bought last year for much more money! Heck of a deal. If I had been thinking, I would have sent a Julia Child to each of my aunts since shipping was free and there was no minimum. That one sure made my mom happy, which makes me happy...and I didn't tell her about how many I had ordered for myself. According to the tracking, I'll get my Purple Passion tomorrow and that's the last of them. Terrific sale, wonderful plants, and the weather is even cooperating, sort of. We're expecting rain for the next 6 days. Already kicking myself for not ordering more, and I do feel bad for those of you who didn't get in on it. Even the mini "Texas" was a big size. wow wow wow...See MoreJulia Child rose at Home Depot
Comments (5)Oh that is interesting about how they get to the big box stores! I never knew. It always seems so random and that explains why. I saw Julia Child at Lowe's earlier this spring and almost picked her up but didn't and when I went back they were all gone. I did manage to find a Scentimental there and also got my mom a Cherry Parfait. All roses I was surprised to find at Lowe's! After that shipment of roses all of the others I happened to see at Lowe's were Knock Outs or Flower Carpets. I'm also kicking myself for not picking up a Music Box rose I saw at a Lowe's out of town. All of the ones I mentioned were in large nursery sized pots. Congrats on your lucky find, dutchrose71! :) Andrea...See MoreLabel reads "John F. Kennedy Rose" but Home Depot got it wrong?
Comments (23)The roses I've photographed from my plants do not change colors in the sun, certainly nothing like those three photos posted. What I find is some variability between individual blooms, and that's the case with the Peace variety, as I noted above. I also think there's more yellow in my roses, and the edges of double delight seem to be more red than pink. My roses have a softer pink tinge at the tip of the petals. Comments (27)I have been seeing the Kordes Clean n Easy roses at a couple of places near me. Did not see them at Lowe's here when I checked. But I did find them at a couple of garden centres & Canadian tire. I picked up cherry lady (aka fiji), Rosanna & Poseidon. They also had a number of others - about 10 varieties I've seen. The only one I haven't seen is brothers Grimm. That's one of the ones on my wish list. But it's nice to see them available in Ontario. I prefer to buy larger potted plants than bare roots if I can....See MoreEmbothrium
