Need help with gift idea for Phoenix resident
Comments (4)Your brother is lucky to have you. :) Hopefully he'll join our forum so we can all enjoy his new home and landscape. I hope so. In any case, I like Easy's suggestion of a gift card--that really does offer some nice flexibility. Most of the local nurseries around Phoenix also offer gift certificates so that's an option as well if you give them a call. Another idea would be some of the great books for gardening in the Phoenix metro. We have a nice faq of books that people recommend. 'Arizona Gardener's Guide' by Mary Irish would be a good book to give if he doesn't already have it. It, and the others on our FAQ section on books would be good ideas too. Let us know what you decide and how he likes it. Take care, Grant Here is a link that might be useful: Arizona Gardener's Guide...See MoreI need a retirement gift idea
Comments (3)Any serious gardener would love to own a pair of Felco pruners! They're simply the best, better than all the rest! To have a tool like this at your disposal when you garden a lot just feels so indulgent. Felcos make your work easier. They also do a great, precision job of pruning, which is better for your plants than pruning with inferior cutters. If your friend already owns a Felco pruner, surely he would welcome another into his life. I know how excited I would be to receive another! I'm linking you to Felco's #2, but if your friend has smaller hands (as I do) Felco #6 would be a better choice. Here is a link that might be useful: Felco Pruner...See MoreWedding: I need gift idea

Comments (28)Not knowing the couple, I'm short on ideas. I do have our invitation, decoupaged on wood and done by my mother. I haven't displayed it for years, but it's meaningful and I wouldn't get rid of it. I have my bouquet - dried not preserved so it doesn't look wonderful but I know what it is and that's what counts ;0) I can happily admit to having my brownie sash with all the badges too in a zippered little satin envelope in my lingerie chest. When I'm sorting, updating, I take it out and look at it, fold it carefully and put it back - with a pair of my childhood white Easter gloves that are about 2 1/2 inches long finger tip to wrist. I don't display a lot of personal things, it's not my decorating style but it doesn't mean they aren't important to me. Watchme, along with the brownie sash, there has been a cheaply made trophy here all our married lives, something presented to DH at a grade school hoop shoot tournament. And, all those years, I've heard from a friend of his that the trophy should have been his, of the two of them, he was the better player than DH. We're talking about maybe 4th grade, I barely remember 4th grade. When friend turned 50, I wrapped the trophy and gave it to him for his birthday present. He cried, and it's in their game room displayed now....these things matter to some ;0)...See MoreBonnie
