Royal Poinciana Tree Dying?
Comments (34)Yes, Delonix regia-the "royal poinciana"-is a magnificent thing, perhaps the single most beautiful tree in the world, by some reckoning. It is my understanding that although S. Florida is to their liking, they are actually from a still more tropical region and one where even the light frosts that FL encounters probably never happen. As such, this tree can be deciduous in S. Florida. Sal, see anything amiss in what I'm saying here? For my part, I've found the Fabaceae to be a veritable treasure trove of amazing species. Just the popcorn cassia alone is almost too good to be true, this used as an "annual" up here in the north....one which simply never looks bad, and never quits blooming all summer long. But I digress. I think your tree is fine also. I'm not sure if I understood correctly though....are you still growing it in a pot? It would be far, far better in the ground. BTW, much horizontal space will be needed should one or more of your trees survive. They grow sideways at least as much as upward. +om...See MoreAnyone aware of any issues with Royal Colors
Comments (14)Donna - the email was signed Paul. I didn't click on any links in the email and went to their site separately - which didn't have the same message and made me even more suspicious. The email I got did have their logo but the language and something else about it made me suspicious that it was spam. However as someone else noted the code in the email does work for percentage off. Based on the wording of the email - which I pasted directly here, it wasn't clear if they were just done for this winter (17/18) or if they were done for the rest of 2018 as well. the other thing in the email which made me think they may be closed indefinitely is the below: "Our friends at World Love Flowers will keep you informed when Royal Colors will open its doors again. Sign up now and stay informed!World Love Flowers also keeps you informed of all Amaryllis events in the world."...See MoreThe S word!
Comments (41)Love the pictures! The oil still life makes me think people fear being stuck at home with stomach disorders. I see milk toast and, er, bathroom supplies. (Presuming they have a long-handled 'toaster' and a fire.) Bob -- Hope you don't get all that much snow. Our old Jag X-Type has all-wheel drive and can easily manage four inches of snow in low gear. We're merely 'dusted' this morning, but roads are 'wet' and it's 29F. We have 'snow sky'....See MoreRoyal Watchers
Comments (109)Her being bi-racial is a non-event in the UK. It may become more so if their progeny end up being far darker than Meghan, something that can happen. But in the UK, race is just not the issues it can still be in the US. Harry is a VERY wealthy young man, worth between 25 and 40 million pounds! Diana got 17.5 million pounds in her divorce. Sarah Ferguson, like Diana, lost the HRH part of her title, but is still a Duchess - so would Meghan be if she and Harry divorced. This is a no-lose situation for Meghan; Harry could lose a LOT of money if it doesn't work out. I have no idea if Meghan is "using" Harry or if he is using her. They probably don't either, as they are in the throes of love/hormones singing to each other. But if the marriage ends, it will be Meghan who is the winner for certain....See MoreMoses, Pittsburgh, W. PA., zone 5/6, USA
