Engineered Hard Wood flooring: What type of glue is best?

Hello,

I'm installing 6" engineered hard wood flooring in our bedroom. I don't know the technical term, but the pieces fit together like puzzle pieces ("tongue and groove"?). The floor that would go underneath is hard wood plywood (there was originally carpet there). My plan is to spread glue down on this plywood and put the wood on top. I'm told I don't need any kind of underlayment. Is this true?

My main question is, what kind of glue should I use?

Thanks for your feedback!
