help please- getting sticky stuff off wood furniture
Comments (5)Goo Gone is all ways great for sticky stuff, but not sure about using it on wood surfaces. Another trick is to use mayonaise or peanut butter. They really do work and won't harm the wood! Just rub one of them on and wipe off, you may have to repeat the process a few times, but it should work. Kathy G in MI...See Moreshow me your wood furniture on wood floors, please?
Comments (5)oakleyok (I used to live in the town of Oakley) Do you have any pictures of your floors? They sound lovely. The Amber is a bit darker. I need to find the camera so I can take a picture of them. Most of the furniture in these rooms are antiques of varying woods, not sure what all. I think I have oak and walnut and something else. And the kitchen is full of maple cabinets that have to stay. Here are the rooms that will be done: (living room, dining, entry, kitchen and nook: One nice thing about the light wood is that it is a nice match for the French doors and rather integrates them....See MoreHelp with mix of woods in family room
Comments (6)This is a nice room with potential that just needs some changes. You're right about a larger rug; make it as large as possible to give this room what it deserves. The wall clock is a trend that is over, and an original oil painting would look lovely there. Try e-bay oil paints offered by the artist for the best prices. Choose what really resonates and that you find beautiful. The mirror next to it is another trend that has no real function unless it reflects a wonderful view. You can have drawings, watercolors or acrylics there or another oil, anything that appeals to you. Rather than dark tables I would choose an Oriental or transitional rug in warm colors, which will also complement your art. End tables should not be the same as the coffee table, so choose wood for one and glass and metal for the other. To make this room look larger I would choose a glass coffee table. Books give a room soul and character, and I would arrange some on the coffee table. I like the jug with the flowers, and your beautiful console with the TV above it. Here's my coffee table, which has antique Chinese porcelain because it's what I love and collect. Everything in the room should reflect your personality and what you love....See MoreHelp with bedroom furniture - mixing woods
Comments (5)Thank you so much for your comment & pictures! As far as other elements in the room ... I have 2 pieces of solid oak Amish made furniture that I bought dark hardware for to try & see if I could make it work with the new bed. In the picture I’m posting I haven’t change the hardware yet. I really am loving the idea of buying a off -white dresser & night stand/table. My options is to keep the 2 pieces of oak furniture and buy the matching hooker brand night stands (which are dark walnut) or replace everything with Off white pieces. The solid furniture I have is so well made I was trying to make it work but it maybe time to let it go. I love the magazine cottage journal & they do mix a lot of pieces but I think mine would need to be glazed or painted to make it work?? Are there links to the furniture you posted? If you think the oak would work, I was thinking of buying a round dark framed mirror also. The nightstand pic is one that goes with the hooker set.. a little too rustic. Painting the room is a option too if you have suggestions. This is the room as floors were being refinished....See Moremindshift
