Solar screen on the outside. I'm in coastal NC and we have screens specifically for summer made of this material. We swap out the screens in winter when we welcome the warmth of the sun. Makes a BIG difference. Our window guy explained that if you put it on the outside the window doesn't have a chance to heat up. I'm with pal and chijim. For the chairs, you need to go much older or much newer than what you have now. And I might choose an updated, bold floral, like Josef Frank, for either. Or paint the chairs, as chijim suggests, several shades darker than the wall color in a glossy finish. I think more uniform frames for the artwork in the room would help. I'd go with a more modern, simple frame, maybe dark wood or black. But no chrome accents on the frames. There seem to be a lot of smaller accents, and a lot of holiday/seasonal items on the various surfaces in the room, which I would remove/streamline. Consider something like a Dorothy Thorpe piece for the Dutch hutch, like this sterling rimmed cocktail set, and either a large blue and white English transferware/Delft/Asian or Imari bowl on the WS glass console (which you can fill with seasonal accents).

I have posted and deleted my ideas 3 times. I’m having trouble with the rug. Is it my monitor? I see yellow and green undertones and no correlation with your walls and sofa, so I am suggesting these Durable pillows from etsy.com to tie in what I see. One idea…between the two chairs, something with a hint of the nail head sheen and a matte gray body would work. Love this little table…on sale at Wayfair for $90.00 and the body of the table is a faux shagreen.

Since I'm having great difficulty ordering these side tables can you do it for me? The 40 inch wide glass ones. Bedroom is large and have huge hand carved antique bed.
