A marriage bonding exercise: put the $100 towards a few cans of paint and a paint roller and brush to paint over the khaki color on the walls. :) I guess it's okay, but think about adding some more lively colors around the room (linens, bed covers, curtains, lampshades, rugs, a swath of fabric on the top of the headboard, etc.) and you won't need to worry about the space above the headboard for a while. You've got lots of earthy colors and a mirror is just going to reflect more of them. Save the space for a piece of art that you come across unexpectedly in your future that you both fall in love with. Congratulations on your marriage.

Will you add some color with a valance on the windows? If not I would go for a rectangular something something with color. Possibly a triptych of some sort? A mirror there given the windows seems unnecessary. What will it reflect?

Nice headboard. I feel it's competing with the windows. Can we see pictures of the rest of the room? Can it be moved to a solid wall where it will make a strong presence?

You have an excellent start! I would add curtains (with color or pattern) and art work above the headboard. The curtains would give you the visual illusion that the headboard doesn't intrude into the window. Leave your blinds in place. Something like this pic below. Also, note the accent color or pattern against the neutrals (pillows, curtains, art). It finishes the room.

Pull the bed forward enought to allow for some nice drapes and IMO that is all you will need on that wall and then maybe a fab chandelier . Mirrors should only be hung where they reflect something worth seeing twice and i don’t think that space is the right spot for anything.

I have a similar setup, but you're fortunate enough to have enough space on both sides of your windows for drapes. My contractor was so pleased (I wasn't) when he surprised me with larger windows than I'd specified! Too expensive to reframe the openings and have more windows made! Anyway...here's what I did... (lamps have since changed). I'm a morning person, so I wanted the morning light to come through and used sheers and woven roller shades. Lined drapery would be lovely in your space, as mentioned by other posters.

A mirror or a good print in a plain black frame, with smooth clean lines, would be beautiful.

First step I would do is to add larger lamps on either side and roman blinds and that whole wall will be better balanced and more of a focal point - really pretty. You could purchase (for example) a small starburst mirror (one below feels too large) and test it out - to see how you feel. Would also suggest a lovely chandelier - have a plan for how you would like the room to feel, so when you are adding items, they are not random and all work together. All the best.

Maureen!! I agree, I’ve been looking at lamps the last couple of days and I think I found the ones I want. Same with bedside tables... gotta wait till after Christmas though otherwise I won’t have money for other people haha!

Ask for money for Christmas and watch for the sales! Maybe get the lamps first before you consider above the bed and instead add a wonderful chandelier..may be all that you need. All the best.

I would use Denita's photo for inspiration. I love Maureen's inspiration as well, although I think the drapery panels are the perfect solution for your room.

I agree with adding curtains to disguise the fact that the headboard overlaps the window a bit. Back tabs hang nicely. Hang them as close to the ceiling as possible so they come about 1/4 to 1/2" above the floor as shown in Denita's picture. Larger lamps should definitely be on your radar! I would also consider adding a throw or bed scarf to the bottom of the bed to bring some color to that end as well as upgrading your light fixture. You have a nice start to a lovely room.

Window treatments and a nice little piece of artwork will do wonders for your bedroom.
