clear glass shower doors?
Comments (1)I have rain glass on my front door and sidelights and it hardly hides the doggy nose prints. So, I don't consider my clear glass shower any easier/harder to keep looking clean. But I'm a neat/clean freak. The doggy nose prints don't last long, and we squeegee the shower. But both clean up easily and beautifully....See MoreShowerguard v crystal clear v diamond fusion glass shower glass
Comments (3)Starphire shows the tile in its true color. once you live with starphire, regular glass will give you the creeps :) I disagree :-) I like the greenish cast of "regular" glass and the starfire stuff in seems comparatively uninteresting and pointless to me. To me, that green cast says calm, relax, water, beach, spa, whatever. In Massachusetts where I am, the Starphire glass is the same price (or barely different) than the regular green glass and I went out of my way to specify that they put in the regular stuff. I picked a thicker glass at that - 3/4" thick walls - and I can just about see that green. I've got plenty of the tile in my bath - the glass wall presents an additional bit of interest in that room as you look around the room from tile-no-glass to tile-behind-glass. I like it. So, if you were to ask me, the pro for starfire vs. not is that you have a choice. I did my two bathroom remodels 3 and 5 years ago and during one of them I seem to remember that diamond fusion option present itself as a surface coating to help keeping it clean(er) and I think that is what I picked for the first bathroom. That is an all-glass shower (well, all 4 walls) and I wipe it down with a miracle cloth after every shower. I have no idea if the diamond fusion is doing any good or not because I've always Miracle Cloth'd that shower (it is "my" shower) so I don't know how to evaluate it. That shower certainly does stay very very clean - I've only Windexed it once a year because my wiping does an excellent job keeping that glass clean. The other shower I don't believe is anything but the 3/4" regular glass, it is my husband's shower and he just squeegees the shower. That one needs the Windex treatment I've noticed more often than does mine, but frankly, I suspect the squeegeeing (which I've never found very effective) vs. my miracle cloth wiping. But I just don't know....See MoreCan you attach a glass shower door to glass wall tile
Comments (3)I have glass tiles but I guess mine are different. But I will say this if you get 10 glass door companies out there you will get 10 opinions on what needs to happen. The people that don't bring levels and such get rid of them first. They wanted to put support rods across the top of mine and drill into my floor. Here is how mine is constructed maybe you can tweak it to fit your needs. I have a 28" wide x 80" tall 3/8" thick door that has 45 deg hinges that swings off of a 1/2" thick piece of glass that goes from floor to ceiling. There are 2 clips on the wall and one at the top where this glass goes to the ceiling. This holds the panel steady. It is just siliconed at the wall and bottom, no drilling into floor. The other fixed panel is 28" wide x 80" tall 3/8" thick and has only one small attachment at the top corner the rest is siliconed in. It works beautifully and you see the true beauty of the glass not a bunch of hardware and head rails. My Glass tiles are bullet proof as it is glass laminated onto porcelain and it is really tough to drill through but I don't think they should have a problem using the correct drill bit and possibly keeping it wet while drilling with acetone or water to keep it cool. This company might have had problems before and they are now nervous with the situation. I suggest that you keep getting quotes. It's a pain and slows the process but in the end positive results....See MoreFor Those Of You With Glass Door Cabinets
Comments (24)We have two, which we had installed to break up the look of the kitchen. It really helps. Both are for regular every day dishes, as the china cabinet is in the dining portion of the kitchen and contains all the beautiful china and crystal. I believe the type of glass we have is called seeded, and I find it very easy to keep clean. Of course, we don't have small children in the house, and the youngest (21) has been told, use the handles to open and close the cabinets - not the wood or the glass! I'm sorry, Tripod doesn't allow direct hits for photos, so I have to give a link. PS The liquor is no longer stored in the corner cabinet. For now, it's in the living room in the corner, in a box!
