How big is the island? Maybe you could use an remnant from a local granite yard. There are many granites that are marked down becasue the pieces can not be used on a large island or run of counter. Remnants tend to be a little cheaper. And if Granite is still to high maybe a type of wood counter. Sometimes wood can be expensive but again this is something you may be able to do yourself. Another idea would be tile. A DIY project of granite or even marble tile. Formica or Wilsonart or even Slate or Limestone might be an idea to work with. Here is your corian color, maybe one of the granite types below might match nicely. (I am a huge fan of Jet Mist so I can help but agree this would be beautiful) Mont Blanc Corian Juperana Persia (A remnant will be cheaper) Solarius Vermont Slate Sandstone Tile Granite Tile Wood Kodiak Granite (this might be beautiful with Mont Blanc) Ubatuba granite (this is one of the less expensive granites) Yellow River Verde Butterfly Formica is another inexpensive option. (Basalt Slate color) Jet Mist (my granite counter, I love it)

Oh how pretty! Thank you for the picture. I was all set on the Blanco silgranite that looks like a D (I had my heart set on a rectangle sink) but then I found out I can only put the faucet to the side which is not something I want. I have a Victorian style bridge faucet. They do have a smaller sink that will fit but it's only 7.5 inches deep and since we have a small kitchen, small sink cab and only an 18 in DW, I feel the sink will be too small. I did order the HD Mont Blanc single bowl sink in desert sand and I absolutely love it but I worry about how well it will hold up (first) and second I'm not sure about the color sink (I was thinking white for my cottage style even though I couldn't make a farm sink work). wow, have not been on this forum in 2 years, connect to check something, and find this. We have Silestone Montblanc. Not the leather finish, the regular one. Been in for 2.5 years, now. In general, very happy. Two small areas have pitted (one about 1 mm, one about 2 mm), which we keep meaning to get fixed, but have not. Not usage or trauma related, I think--just found these two little pits on seperate ocassions over the last year or so. Not a big deal. Otherwise, quite happy--easy to clean, does not stain, still looks great. Here's what the countertops look like. Hope this helps!
